Now I am wondering if my 40 Oceanis is double hull to? I guess I will find out when I start cutting holes in her, at least I won't be surprised if it is. I am saving each of the videos in this series for a instruction book for when I put my bow thruster in. Thank you so much for making this video series.

You are welcome. You should be able to check if you have a double hull under your cabin sole. If you see bare fiberglass, then it´s probably a sandwich construction. If it´s nice gelcoated surface and sound hollow, then you have the same as mine. How old is your boat? Mine is a 2012, so fairly new

@@jacobkollerup Mine is a 1996 and yes it is gel coated in my bilges but it doesn't sound hollow. Guess I will find out when I start working on it. All I am waiting on is for this pandemic to be over. Be safe out there.

I can send you the 3D file, it’s a quite simple print if you know someone who has a hobby 3D printer.

Very nice video thanks for sharing. I am a new into owning a sailboat. Last November I bought an oceanis 323 from 2007 also in Copenhagen area! Can't wait to put it on the water. Mine has already installed a bow thruster, but I am thinking to install a windlass. Do you think I could power the windlass from the thruster battery? If you are preparing your boat for the season I would love to see some videos on how are you doing.

Hi! Very glad you liked it. I’ll improve the audio for upcoming videos, since the wind noise is quite awful on this one. Congratulations with the boat and coming into sailing, you will definitely not regret it. Yes, you should absolutely be able to power your windlass from the thruster battery, just remember some thick wires and you should be good to go. There will be lots of more videos to come:)

Thank you. Another great video! Now that I understand what’s involved, you’re saving me a lot of money. Bow thrusters including install can cost $10,000-$12,000 in my area. Most of that is labor. Could you sand/grind the very bottom center of the compartment so the tube is bonded w/ thickened epoxy the entire length below the tube?
@jacobkollerup4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful, always good to save a few bucks;). Yes, you can definitely fill the underside of the tunnel with thickened epoxy and glass over. However the installs where I've seen it done is mainly where the tunnel sits very close to the bottom and glassing all the way around would be impossible. In my install I can easily do the normal glassing around. On the Crownline I did, the filling of thickened epoxy, so it´s a matter of the individual install.

I am installing a bow thruster right now as well. What are you planning to use for fiberglassing? what type of mat/roving, laters? Epoxy? Thanks and great channel!
@jacobkollerup4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’ll be using west systems epoxy and biaxial 300gr (maybe 600gr on the flat surfaces). Reason for going with the epoxy is the excellent moisture barrier (on the outside). Inside because the epoxy works down to around 4 degrees C, where a polyester needs 12-15 degrees C. Also the lack of styrene fumes is also quite nice. Downside is the price! Here the price of epoxy is about 4x the price of poly. I hope to have the next video up within 2 weeks. The sound quality will be greatly improved in the next video. Thanks for watching:)

Let me figure out. It’s for US right? Note that it only works for the Ø125 mm tunnel
