The 0102 is a dead gpu, the only way to fix that is a gpu replacement, use xenonlibrary to get the real codes and what they mean, sites like xex are not good and give false information. Heat guns and bolt mods were debunked, the fact ifixit is still selling this stuff is bad marketing cause it is still killing 360s beyond proper repair to this day. The GPUs in the earlier phat models have a defect where they fail if they stay above 70c for too long, causing the issue you saw with 0102, for the bolt modded one it probably broke the gpu from the pressure alone.

If done properly the bolt mod can last for years. I fixed hundreds of 360's for a handful of years back then using the bolt mod. I still have 4 falcon boards that I fixed using the bolt mod which were infamous for the rrod. I also modded them with rgh chip's and they still work amazingly today. I have one of them sat right next to my xbox series.

Is there anything else you do to consider it done properly? I've also seen bolt modded consoles last a long time (the camo one in the video was actually bolt modded already and started working later lol), but I've also seen the ones that last for a month or 2. Either way, I see doing a bolt mod as at least being better than throwing the console away (which I imagine happens pretty often now)
@Saberbeatsvr10 ай бұрын
@@jrob0021 yeah your right some would only last a while longer, luckily I had more successful fixes more often than not. I had several of my own that just would not take to the fix but what can you do lol. 🤷♂️ I did nothing in particular other than taking care to reflow the cpu and gpu properly and use good thermal paste/pads. I used to fix them for a local pc shop but used a rework station with a regulated heat gun. If they did have to come back I would often fix them again for free. Some people used to use regular paint stripper heat guns, some people also used wrap them in tin foil to "protect the components" which was wild. I definitely wasn't one of those people when I tried fixing my first Xbox I promise. 😅

@Saberbeatsvr10 ай бұрын
@@DavidWhitley if you don't do it right and tighten the bolts too much. Also a lot of people only used regular washers and would tighten the bolts right down which ment there was no give and yes as you said just bends the board ultimately resulting in failure again down the line. I did the mod using washers but I also used a tork screw driver as to not over tighten plus nylon spring washers which helps stops the board from bending or causing uneven pressure. I did it for a long while not just for fun but for a local shop so although not all fixes would be permanent the majority of the ones I fixed lasted a long while after including the few I still have.

Wrapped console in towel after that and left it running for like 10mins and let it cool. Yes, brutal but it worked for like two years quite frequent playing. In fact it still somewhere in my parents house and when I stopped using it, it was still working. Man what hairdryer that thing was. I've owned 360s since launch. You're incorrect about the bolt mod. Sure you can do it after your console is already fucked BUT if you do this to the console while it's still quite new it's very effective. I've had a bolt mod on the last 360 I ever purchased and it still runs perfectly. You also can screw this mod up if you're not using the correct hardware. I recommend anyone who has a phat 360 that works perfectly to just do it before you get rrod. Also do a rgh mod and crank the fan speed up. Mine is going on 16 yo. I used it ALOT back in the day. Don't use the wrong hardware or wait for it to rrod. Once it rrod its pretty much over. The bolt mod isn't to fix rrod. It's to PREVENT it!

You're just straight up wrong... A bolt mod causes irreparable damage to the motherboard. If a console is prone to the RROD, a preemptive bolt mod will do nothing to stop it. The fact you think it will proves you have 0 understanding of the real issue with the GPU that causes the RROD
