I haven’t tried the box clasp. Only lobster clasp. I thought the box clasp was better because it looks more premium. I hadn’t even realized that the box clasp wouldn’t allow a pendant. I think I’d enjoy both tho.

Personally I think the box lock looks cooler but I’d agree with Brayden when it comes to comfort. If I had to pick one I’d choose the box lock because it looks sweet. I actually have a 4mm Franco bracelet with a lobster clasp and it’s very comfy, I’ve worn it everyday for about a year now! Thank you so much Brayden and Raquel!! Happy holidays to you all!

I think with Cubans specifically the box locks work well but if you are going smaller, you will end up wanting the lobster clasp due to how much a box lock is going stick out. Also, with smaller chains, the box lock is going to have enough weight to pull the chain downwards causing a fold in a Cuban. This can be bothersome because one of the most appealing aspects of the box lock is that it provides a cleaner more contiguous look but more often than not with a smaller Cuban, you will end up with the bottom side of the lock being the visible side due to the chain not being heavy enough to counteract the weight of the lock. I think around 5mm is the perfect starting point for box locks. Below 5mm and lobster clasp will likely be the better option for overall comfort and functionality. If I were to get either of these chains I would love the 4.5mm 22" lobster clasp. Sam S. Denver, CO

I used to own a Miami Cuban link bracelet that a had a box lock. It definitely gives it a more secure feeling but after a couple years the lock stopped clicking and would easily come off with a little tug. For that reason I would say lobster claps are better. Have never had any issues with the lobster clasps on any of my chains that I’ve had for years now. That 26 inch Cuban would sure be great to add to the collection. Adrian L. Homestead, Florida

Lobster clasp def more comfortable and more preferred however box lock definitely more elegant but limits the size of pendants you can add to your chain. My recommendation is just to move the box lock to the side so you’re not feeling it against your neck while you’re wearing it will be more comfortable! That 26 inch Cuban with the box lock would be fire. Thanks again for all the giveaways guys! Happy holidays! Brandon I Hickory, NC

My first chain was a jacoje DC rope that I purchased in 2017/2018. Wore it everyday until 2024 when I sold it to Linx and bought a cuban link with box lock. I've never had a lock box before, I've only had lobster clasp. However, I would prefer a lock box over a lobster clasp for a gold piece due to its greater security and durability. My wife gave me a flat curb bracelet a few years ago and I ended up losing it because the lobster clasp got loose and I didn't realize it. I believe that the lock box offers superior protection, preventing accidental opening, which is crucial for anyone who values a good piece of jewelry and wears it daily. Furthermore, I think that its design is more elegant and luxurious, that is a flex that goes hard when you like jewelry. Although the lobster clasp is practical, comfortable and easy to use, its mechanism can wear out over time (which is why it is important to check your jewelry from time to time), while the lock box is more robust and stable, making it the most reliable option. However, this is all a matter of taste and preferences since with proper care a nice gold piece should not give you serious durability problems. Jay P. Georgia.

I like the lobster clasps better personally. I love how the diameter of the chain doesn't get wider. Throughout the day, my chain shifts around my neck. With the lobster clasp, I don't even feel it shifting. For a chain you are going to wear every day or even sleep in (which I do), comfort plays a huge factor in my decision to purchase. Much love Braden! Merry Christmas!

Honestly I like the way you’ve been doing it on your website. Lobster clasp on anything 5mm or below for both comfort and pendant compatibility. Anything 6mm and up I would prefer the box lock because it’s a bit more secure with the heavier weight, and I think it just fits the look better at that size So in this particular size I would much prefer the lobster clasp. But they all just look gorgeous to me, a Cuban has been a goal chain for me for a long time ever since seeing my grandfather (RIP💔) wear one all through my childhood. I believe that lobster clasps are best suited for smaller, thin chains, whereas box locks are better for thicker, larger chains, like 5mm or wider. Another popular option for comfort and for people with longer hair are sleek box locks. The beauty part is there are options for everyone available, hopefully. As for me, I'd go with lobster clasp if it were a 3mm curb/cuban chain. As for 4mm, it's a tossup between box lock or lobster clasp because both options would work for this chain width. That's my take! Shawn S. Zuni, New Mexico

I prefer the lobster clasp. I don’t wear big heavy chains. I prefer the more subtle look. Also with less weight on the clasp it won’t turn on your neck as easy with the weight pulling it down. Also won’t snag or get caught on stuff. That said on a thick chain like 8-10mm that you don’t wear often, the box lock is a nice touch to be different for sure.

I like the box lock because it keeps the continuous touch of the chain for at least cuban. Unlike the lobster clap, which breaks the look depending on the size of the chain, the break will stand out. However, the box lock only works with larger size chains because on my 5mm, it seems to stick out too much and caused it to flip. So I guess what I am trying to say is that it depends on the chain and the size and that if they can get the lobster/box to match the chain flow, then it would not matter but I know that these type of claps are mass produce to fit any chains and for that reason you will need to put it on and see many examples to find the one that works for you.

Both are good styles and both have a great appeal to them. I prefer the box lock because you know that chain isn't going anywhere. I've had several lobster clasps fail on me over the years with bracelets and chains. The springs inside tend to break and then you're replacing the clasp. With the box lock, you don't have to worry about that. But if you do go with a box lock and you want to wear a pendant, make sure the box lock clears the bail or you'll find yourself in a situation where you have a really nice pendant but it will not fit onto your chain. Always do your homework first before shopping for a pendant if you have a box lock chain. Chris M. Allentown, Pa

Box lock all of the way. Although the figure eight clasp can wear out along with the make/female end, the security isthe selling point. 2nd point is the illusion of the bracelet not ending. I once had a beautiful cuban link bracelet that had a lobster class. The main issue is that the spring mechanism always gives and unlike the box clasp, it is a repair that requires a jeweler. I only take my jewelry off to clean it and in my years of owning that particular piece, I had to have mine repaired twice.
