I enjoyed Carl Sagans Cosmos but didnt realise Jaque criticized him, Jaque has a great point

This is from 1979. Jacques changed his mind about Sagan immensely since then. Carl Sagan is quoted and cited in The Best That Money Can't Buy. Both of them are brilliant minds.

And thats what a rational thinker should do. Admit where they are wrong, and humble yourself. I love both Jacque and Sagan.

One of Sagan's books is recommended in The Venus Project's list of recommended books (It's on their website)

Dan Penia I think it’s more that Jacque didn’t like some of Sagan’s later stuff.

I personally enjoy many of Cal's ideas and speeches, but Jacque definitely makes a big point here! And that "communicate with the Russians" part is priceless :P

Sagan has been awarded three medals and one prize for his contributions, ranging from astronomy and cosmology to "the application of science to the public welfare," and your senseless attack and name calling does not make these contributions any less significant.

I don't care how smart you may be; your comments clearly show me that you are either unable or unwilling to utilize the knowledge and skills you have in a more constructive manner than Sagan did. Telling me you went to the same University than him doesn't tell me anything useful. Once again, what matters more than the tools you posses is the way you use them. If you're really interested in Sagan's achievements, there's the internet. If you're going to ask me anything, do so politely.

Jacque, if you've seen or read Contact and listened to a lot of his talks and speeches you would know he cares immensely about the fate of humanity and the earth, and Carl knew as well as anybody that a way to possibly get humanity united and galvanized to create a better world and new paradigm was through the extraordinary break through discovery, maybe the greatest discovery in human history, of making contact with extra terrestrials. Also Sagan was an astronomer, cosmologist, and astrophysicist by trade and formal education and made a living, like anyone else has to, doing work in those fields, including SETI but definitely not exclusive to SETI, and so the things you're talking about are more suited for sociologists, not someone trying to make a living being an astronomer. And finally I do think Sagan did help humanity some with his work, lectures, and speeches on spreading awareness of the cosmic perspective. But even after saying all that, I do agree Jacque makes some good points, just wish he was a little more respectful.

Jacques had changed his mind about Sagan since this was made. Sagan is quoted, praised, and Cited in Fresco's book "The Best That Money Can't Buy"

I understand where Jacque is coming from but he is a little off base here. The science of Cosmology and Astrophysics has contributed to the paradigm shift The Venus Project promotes. True, we need to fix communications here on Earth first but it does not mean that we do not study the cosmos until we do. Each field of science has contributed. It allows for the appreciation of the natural world and be humbled by our humanity. It allows for the opportunity for pause and recognize the damage we are doing, and then have the courage enough to fix it.

Alexandra Rodriguez he's not saying that cosmology and astrophysics is wrong( you are projecting and mixing your feeling with waht he said),hell he likes it if you attended or listen his seminar's all he's saying is to get the priorities right if that includes some research in cosmology and astrophycis hell yeah,but contacting aliens....thats the shit he hates,and jacque never hates any person....he likes carl on other topics but disagrees on other

pseudo scientist criticiczing one of the brightest minds ever existed. After this clip i completly realized what kind of guy is this fresco: a pop star.
@GeorgeTVP9 жыл бұрын
Fresco is a pop-star for arguing that we ought to focus our attention on solving problems here on Earth? What part about this argument doesn't convince you?
@danielcorreales96849 жыл бұрын
GeorgeTVP He likes controversy; besides the fact he is not a scientist he is always talking like if he had the answer to the main problems of humanity and he doesn´t . i dont deny the fact that he has really interesting opinions regarding some important issues we all have to be concerned about what this man has made up is more alike a religion.
@GeorgeTVP9 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen or heard Jacque Fresco claim himself to be a scientist, perhaps you could provide a source for that claim? He has talked about what a scientist ought be doing, which is different than claiming to do science. Him seeming like he knows the answers to everything is irrelevant because it has nothing to do with what he is saying. Can you point out any shortcomings of his arguments?
@danielcorreales96849 жыл бұрын
he says, for example, that all our behave patterns are result of the influnce of culture. Does that mean the roll of DNA and natural selection are insignificant? for god´s sake

Daniel Correales Carl Sagan and Jacques Fresco, work on different branches. I can understand Fresco's frustration, for I have experienced it myself, but I can also understand Sagan's standpoint. DNA and biology do play a role, but component does not mean causation. Both Sagan and Fresco, are right. Quite paradoxically, Carl Sagan did get a lot of resources from the government, while the venus project is basically mocked and vilified, the reason: It goes against the whole bloody system. Even Carl Sagan mentions most of the solutions the venus project is offering. Now, go back 70 years ago, and see the man Fresco was and what his ideas were, by all means he is a remarkable person, although passionate and emotional, while Sagan was just passionate and calculating. These are the main differences between a scientific and a creative minds.
