Pooh watching him as a prop for a ballerina, much better to set him free to dance alone.... The most beautiful man ever flying in dance

I had the absolute honor and privilege to get to know Jacques when he performed at UC Santa Barbara in residence for the College of Creative Studies. A wonderful dancer, a superb person. Made everyone feel SO special.

So proud to say that I saw them dance in person many years ago at The New York City Ballet! Don't be surprised if you should see a big increase in viewers! They're that wonderful! Many thanks to Alfred MrDance for this elegant post! Best regards, varadero

Thanks for this. Can never get enough Jacques D'Amboise. His accent is a bonus. :) Also like the earlier tv color here.

I marvel at the differences between this early Ed Sullivan performance of Meditation and the stripped down, ethereal one that Suzanne Farrell inspired. If you catch a recording of that performance, you will see the difference. No costumes, loose hair, no setting, and especially that awful introduction was dropped. These changes were all made by Balanchine himself when he was active. I wish there were a book that recorded the evolution of his major ballets, from silly costumes in a ballet I can't recall, to the simple leotard ballets of today.
