Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie has called for a non-mandatory national guard made up of young Aussies who aren't working or studying.
It comes days after UK PM Rishi Sunak announced he would make service mandatory for 18-year-old Brits.
Veteran Normie Rowe joins us.

They'd interact with more people, have to take responsibility, and have to earn the respect of their peers, we could put them to work cleaning water-ways, planting trees, & protecting parks, they'd finally do their part for the environment instead of protesting, censoring, and wasting everyone's time ^^

She is an ex-soldier... Did she say train to be a soldier? No. Watch again. The show is pushing the possible training with weapons and hopping in tanks etc.. comparing this to conscription and the Vietnam war...... Learn to listen up people.... the media is trying to play the soldier angle for attention. It was stated as training a home guard to help during national disasters. Helping your own and looking after your lands. Would you protect your own on this soil if the worst ever happened? I think you would.

What do young people who do this get? Enough with the “they’re lazy they need to work harder” propoganda lol I’m not that young but I know for a fact they have higher IQs more demanding school and learning environments more rigorous sporting. Great so in a birthrate crisis let's go send young Australians into wars against robots and drones? Is it not enough we have gifted them underemployment and houselessness. Let's send the elderly and landlords instead. They've had enough taxpayers money from Australians already, now they can give back. That way the Budget won't be in deficit paying for them to exist for another 50 years while the young are sent out into the economy or wars to die early. Special forces lack the equipment and manpower to hold across a wide front. what would be a good idea is creating exceptions to firearm licencing laws to allow for semi auto rifles to be possessed by individuals who are apart of local militias. They train every week with the reserves but are their own self sustained force. You get the benefit of a self sustained and self motivated force which acts as an auxiliary to the regular forces.

I reckon it's a great idea. Especially during natural disasters to help the community. Not thinking about going to war on all that. But learning a skill helping others and also yourself. Yes, fair enough. Some young people will not like it , especially getting what to do. But in a long run , a gives you a new skill , a new level of life. Yes , we all know that military is not at everybody's appreciation. But some people don't know if the dance try it. I wish I was 17 to 21, I'll do it. I've been in a service above in the armamettes when I was a youngster. And also my family has been in Air Force, army and navy .

They're fine. It's the whites since 1788 who have been feral, on the whole. Many have moved on, but it's not like its the indigenous people who can't live on the land without cutting all the trees down and wrecking our water system.
