Hey, to the Muslim community. I have a question. So I've been interested in Islam and have been reading the Quran lately. I was thinking of taking my shahada and converting to Islam But i heard that music is Haram. Some say it's okay to listen to music and some say it's prohibited. Can a few Muslims confirm with me that is it okay if I convert to Islam and still listen to music? I listen to a lot of rock and heavy metal Also, much love to my fellow Muslims brothers and sisters ❤️

You Can take it easy, you must be doing the pillars of Islam and pray, then music you can take it slowly,first you hear with yourself but do not share with any one not to take his sin, and then slow down to hear the passage of days, and there are programs deleted music songs, because music is haram, but Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. Hi Nokturnal, scrolling through the comments section here, I just couldn't overlook your comment without a reply. Becoming a Muslim is an easy process, all that a person has to do is to pronounce with conviction a sentence called the Testimony of Faith (Shahada). At this stage you have come along way so congratulations for that, thats an impressive progress, so please don't be hesitant to take the most important decision in your life due to overthinking and worrying on whether music is haram or not, thats not an issue to be addressed at this stage. Islam is simple, its a life style its a journey so please don't overwhelm yourself to know every single detail all at once befor you convert. Take this step first and learning details will come along the way gradually with one step at a time. The most important thing to focus on once you convert is to know the fact that islam is built upon 5 pillars, and practicing these pillars is important for all muslims which include belief in one God, prayer, zakat, fasting, and pilgrimag. The second thing to know about and practice is Faith of which in Islam stands on six pillars and this was taught to the Muslims in a famous narration of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: "Faith means to believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and the Divine Decree, both good and bad". The rest will follow trust me for now I encourage you to take the first step to convert and take the shahada, being a muslim is a journey a work in progress and commitment into making ourselves better by the day and trying our best to do good deeds, and if we sin then we are not perfect we are humen and we do mistakes that's our nature, the most important thing is to be self aware and learn from them, and Allah is indeed the utmost forgiving and the utmost merciful. Again, congratulations so happy for you having come and reached this far in your pursuit of truth, and finding your utmost purpose in life. @@asmaobaidat8624 I really want to thank you for taking your time and writing this all out for me. I really appreciate it! Also, i will definitely take a look at those videos! This is the second time I been attracted to Islam. The first time I was watching a lot of videos on Muslim KZbinrs but never took any action. This time around, a Muslim friend gave me a Quran and i been reading it since then. I really do like Islam and i believe it will be the best decision. I think Islam will make me into a peaceful person doing the best in life. I grew up in a Christian household but I never really believed in it. I partied and drank heavily throughout the years. Now that i am 24, I took reflection on how I was living life and it's best that I change. When I was watching Muslim KZbinrs, i saw how their lives changed when they converted and it's beautiful really. A few weeks ago, I was listening to the Quran on KZbin and it made cry. I can't express enough how beautiful the Quran is recited. This is why I am thinking of converting... Which i probably will sometime soon! ☺️
