About Youngsang Cho
Youngsang Cho is Organic Farmer. Cho learned Natural Farming from his father Hankyu Cho(Korea Natural Farming, KNF) who advocated environmental agriculture since the 1960s. Cho family has been organic farming for the third generation. Cho served in 706 special forces and graduated from Aju University (Bachelor, Chemistry) and Chungnam National Uni (Master, Horticulture). Cho has entered the Ph.D. course from the Department of Agricultural Biology at Chonbuk National University. Cho started organic agriculture in 1989. Through decades of practice and research, he created a new Ultra-Low-Cost organic agriculture system based on his father's farming and Asian traditional farming. He founded “JADAM” in 1991. In 2022, JADAM's membership exceeded 80,000.

Wow.. I have a tangerine tree that's been planted in a raised bed next to the property wall... The soil there is really hard red clay and did not have any conditioning in years.. You'd need a pick axe to try and till it... after 2 successive JMS treatments and deep watering.. I can stick a flimsy mulberry stick 1cm thick into the soil over a foot.. it's crazy.. other parts of the garden that I had been actively composting etc.. it's rather easy to just dig up some dirt with your hand.... the soil is like a sponge.. I'd bet you'd get away with making an awesome no till bed starting on rock hard sun baked clay soil. Just apply some JMS treatments and the cover with a thick carpet of compost.

Is it that only anaerobic bacteria work in the root zone, but this must be happening at deeper levels, at upper levels, close to ground surface aerobic bacteria must also be contributing, so, should we not trigger such a microbiology that will take care of nurturing both, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

Jms i zeytinlere deneme bahçemde temmuz 2022 den itibaren uyguladım. Taban arazi, denize 800 metre mesafede kumlu toprak.

I stabilize my JMS by mixing it with a carb substrate like milled chicken scratch. When the solution is at it's peak add it to a pile of chicken scratch mixing well and turning daily to keep the temp below 120 Fahrenheit similar to IMO3 in traditional KNF. When it's cool and dry store it in a burlap bag and spread it whenever you need it ideally before rain to take it deep down. Works great when planting.

Thank you for your wonderful videos. I have been using my Jadam Fertilizer for about two years with success. This year I made and used JMS for the first time instead of LAB and I can say my tomato harvest was amazing. It was better than in past years. We had 6 weeks of 33.6 degrees C and all my tomato blossoms fell off. I only had another 6 weeks after that to finish the growing season. You could see about 2 feet on the plants where all the blossoms fell off, however, in the last 6 weeks of our growing season, blossoms and fruit production came back with a vengeance. Thank you for this truly remarkable method of productive yet inexpensive farming. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. May my Lord Jesus bless you all, keep you, make His light shine on you and be gracious to you.

Thanks for the great videos and for your book! I have used lacto-bacillus organisms for years. I tried my first JMS this past week. I got the leaf mold from the bottom of a nearby mountain, boiled potatoes and added sea salt. The first 18 hrs. nothing happened. I think maybe I didn't do a good job of getting the correct leaf mold so, I took the liberty of putting in about a quarter cup of fermented Lacto-bacillus and some of your JMF that I made out of comfrey, sedum, leaf mold and sea salt. Eighteen hours late I had bubbles all over the place. Yesterday I applied it my 1100 sq. ft. garden and followed up with watering. I'm in Pennsylvania, USA and we're in the midst of a drought. Although I water weekly, I've had to throw away about 10 tomatoes (32 plants total growing in in my garden) due to blossom end rot. I'm excited to see what happens and how my plants react. I gave some JMF fertilizer to a friend and he said his plants experienced a growth spurt. That didn't surprise me. I made it in a 32 gallon trash can and have enough to share liberally with my gardening friends. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful work. May my Lord Jesus bless you and keep you. May His face shine on you and may he be gracious to you.

Happy New Year - may it be a good year for people and planet! Thank you for these informative and wonderful lectures. I have one question, though: I have reasons to believe that healthy soil is aerobic. How come that it is said in this video that soil environment is anaerobic and even more so after 2 inches? However, it doesn't prevent me from trying the JMS for the first time on my no dig plot with bought compost on top of many of my beds. All the best
@JADAMORGANIC
@JADAMORGANIC 7 ай бұрын
Most of the soil is anaerobic. Is anaerobic bad? Most of the effective microorganisms we know are anaerobic bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, Bacillus subtilis, and yeast are anaerobic bacteria. Alcohol, bread, and all fermented foods around the world are made under anaerobic conditions, and the digestive systems of all living things are anaerobic.

There is a few things you guys are wrong about. The first thing is fruit trees when healthy don’t attract pests. But when ripe naturally attracts animals to disperse seed. Secondly, wood chips do not compact even when using it as a parking lot it still stays unpacked. I think you thought wood chips didn’t work because you didn’t give it enough time. For wood chips to truly start to kinda peek it takes at least 5 years plus. But I’m thankful for all the information you share, none the less.
@nagatang9725
@nagatang9725 Жыл бұрын
Wood chips come in many forms...if from sawmill it can be from wood of very hard nature ..which take long long time to ' digest'...if from chipper of farm waste ( bushes and small trees) tend to be soft and fast to decay. I am using young acacia trees...so rather fast to rot .

More out-of-the-box thinking: Could JMS be used to transform a family's septic tank into a human-excrement JLF tank? That is, could you occasionally pour undiluted JMS into your septic tank to cause its contents to decompose more rapidly such that the output from the tank is composed of more plant-available nutrients? Do you think that -- or something similar -- would work?

Thank you for the video, I used JMS to grow pumpkins watering in a few times before planting and also spraying on the leaves.The plants grew really fast and healthy however some of the leaves developed signs of too much nitrogen with the stem splitting open near the top of the leaf I use no manure or any other source of N. Do you think I may have applied too much JMS to the soil and to the leaves as well? And would it be more useful to apply JMS in the fall before the next years planting ?
@JADAMORGANIC
@JADAMORGANIC 2 жыл бұрын
The use of JMS when the soil is nutrient-rich may cause temporary overgrowth. However, with continuous use, the bloating phenomenon does not occur. It is also good to use in the fall.

Question! I often hear and read (in scholarly publications) that the accumulation of organic matter and many soil aggregates are producing an aerobic environment as it creates a porous texture for air to move through. I hear this commonly as a justification for aerobic cultivation. I see you pointing to the O2 chart, but intuitively when I see good leafy mold soil I would be inclined to believe that the organic matter even at depth greater than 2 in is allowing for aeration to occur. Can you please enlighten me as to how this may be incorrect.
@JADAMORGANIC
@JADAMORGANIC 2 жыл бұрын
According to the data analyzing the oxygen in the actual soil, oxygen decreases from 2.5 cm or less in the soil, and there is almost no oxygen as it goes down. This is true. The roots of most plants in nature live in anaerobic conditions with no oxygen at all. This is not unusual. The digestive system of all living things is also completely anaerobic. Thanks for the question.

Hi! I love the philosophies of JADAM and KNF. I am curious if the main advantage of JMS over IMO#4 is cost & time. I feel like IMO#4 is like dynamite and JMS is like gasoline. You don't want dynamite in your car, but there are times you need it!

Hi, I'd like to ask if the Microbial culture fluid can be added into the compost? If yes, how much is the ratio of dilution? I've learned from your other videos about the usage of microbacteria. My case is that the area of land is quite large while there is no sufficient water, so I cannot irrigate the fluid into the field, is it workable to use the Microbial culture fluid and maure compost together? Will it affect the final result?

Yes, it is possible. When there is not enough water, you can spray JMS undiluted solution.

Both methods are possible. In the case of dripping, it takes about 15 minutes, and in the case of a sprinkler, it takes about 50 minutes. There is no right answer for the interval between watering. It is added or subtracted based on 2-3 days.

Hi, I've viewed all your videos and they are wonderful! Thank you!! My garden is only 1800 sq. ft. I'm planning on using a 5 gallon bucket to make my JMS. My conversions are as follows for a 5 gallon bucket: 1.4 ounces of baked potatoes; 0.64 Oz.(1.28 tablespoons) of Sea Salt and the same for leaf mold. Does that sound correct to you? Thanks for your help!

A person I follow did this for a 5 gals says: 1 cup of leaf mold soil 1 medium (think “lemon-sized”) organic white or red potato, boiled 1 tablespoon of fine sea salt 4 gallons of rain water or water from the tap that has been left to sit for 24 hours in advance* For a two gallon watering can, I add one pint of leaf mold tea and then fill the can the rest of the way with plain water. You can dilute the tea more or less as desired. I like to apply the tea drench to already-moist soil, so either after a rain or on freshly irrigated beds. hello grandmaster. I will make jms on 10 acres of land. Currently, the air temperature is between 32-37 degrees. I saw your book is 25-28 degrees. Is it suitable for making jms if the air temperature is 32-38 degrees. Is it useful to add grape leaves during the jms process?

JMS is incubated at room temperature. good. Perhaps at that temperature, it will be completed in about 12 hours. You can add grated grape leaves.

In Ireland in summer night time temperatures on average are around 13celsius.I would like to make Jms. Would I still need to heat mixture to 20celsius even though daytime summer temperatures is rarely above 25celsius. Best wishes Anthony

If I can ask one more question: when the water temperature in the tank drops below 18 deg Celsius some time during the night does this only make the process longer? or the JMS won't work any longer? this is to avoid using Resistance during Spring time here, because we have no electricity and we will have to buy a generator and use fuel for this. Appreciate your comments. Thanks a lottt again!!!!

For JMS to be produced well, the water temperature must be above 20 degrees even at night. Even if the daytime temperature rises to 18 degrees, progress will be made to some extent. It takes 2-3 days to complete.

When food is depleted in the microbial culture medium, the microorganisms die. Once in the soil, they have a variety of prey to sustain their survival.

Does JMS kill the spores from Phytophthora in the soil or is it making the plant more healthy to resist this disease? Also would an application of JWA and JS applied to the soil in fall or in spring under the plant kill the spores ? Thank you

JMS increases microbial diversity in the soil. Increased microbial diversity and increased numbers of microorganisms fundamentally prevent the rise of certain pathogens. So JMS helps prevent soil diseases.
