Jadavpur University: Death of a student that exposes the dark underbelly of Car-o-Bar | NTT

Team NTT visited the prestigious Jadavpur University in Kolkata, one that is now caught in a massive controversy after the unfortunate demise of a first-year student, Swapnadeep Kundu under mysterious circumstances. Swapnadeep was allegedly ragged to death inside the hostel campus, leading to outrage both inside and outside the campus. But a visit to the campus, where tempers were running high with student protest, NTT found out a dark underbelly of indiscipline and other nefarious activities that had been on inside the campus, mostly perpetrated by outsiders and former students. Alcohol bottles were strewn around all across the campus. There are no CCTV cameras inside the campus because the students never allowed them claiming that CCTV surveillance could interfere with their intellectual liberty. So far 9 people have been arrested by Kolkata police in connection with the death of the first-year student, 4 out of them are former students who had unhindered access to the university campus and the hostel. Alcohol bottles and much more were found, unmissable, during a simple stroll inside the campus. The question is, are University authorities sleeping or they chose to remain blind to this dark side of the University? Police aren't allowed inside the University campus as per the University's decision since it is an educational institution but isn't the consumption of alcohol inside the campus antithetical to the sanctity of the educational institution?

I am surprised to see how weak the administration. They cannot implement any discipline in their campus. They do not have the guts to say anything to the student nor have the guts to control outsiders in the campus. Take consent in judicial paper at the time of admission that if you cannot follow the rules of the institution then this is not your place to study. Get loss. Pity for the administrator, they are all useless person and trying their best to justify all the misdid and their administrative failure. They are responsible for converting a reputed educational institution to notorious institution. Shame for them.

Not only that they obstruct public walkway on the footpath in front of the university where the tea and food shops are and they don't give people sides or spaces when general people walk through the footpath forcing them to walk through road. And they always occupy the important stop like Jadavpur police station more and force general public vehicles and important vehicles like ambulances and everything to delay to reach their destination. They did recently such thing two or three days ago on this issue and general public were furious this time and told them to clear the street and they did such but with an attack mentality to the general public. There's video there on the news channels if anyone want to know about it.
