Interesting, my 1970 Seiko Bellmatic has all the features this JLc is missing. Push button to activate alarm by pulling out. Push back in to stop alarm. Push in from there to advance date. Winding the crown is winding the alarm. And finally the alarm is actually an audible buzzing sound that can also be felt on your wrist. With only two services since new, mine is still going strong.

My mom still has hers from the 70s and it works great. I have the Omega Memomatic which also has the same features. JLC just never updated the Memovox, sadly.

Nice but this design doesn't suit this modern case size IMO. 36mm would have been beautiful(but I can understand too small for most blokes these days) , 38mm would have been a fine middle ground, but 40mm too much IMO.

That's why you have the Tudor Advisor at half the price with everything better in terms of functionality.

Tudor Advisor is way more functional and interesting with an alarm on/off switch and a power reserve indicator for the alarm function. Rose crown at 2 o'clock on Tudor Advisor has all the alarm functions while the other crown at 4 o'clock takes care of the date and time functions. Very efficient solutions, unlike the JLC Memovox.

For mechanical watches, it is recommended to never use the crown to force a date change while the date dial is in the process of switching to the next day. Depending on the movement, this usually happens between 10pm and 2am. With the upper crown being used to set the alarm and also set the date... well, I imagine this could easily end in disaster if you accidentally turned that crown the wrong way during the 'unsafe' period. Enjoy the servicing fee to get that 10k watch fixed!

The Omega Memomatic was much better. First, it would wind both the alarm spring and the main spring automatically. Second, you could switch the alarm function off if you wanted. Third, you had two discs for hours and minutes on the alarm. And finally, the second crown didn't move the date, it only allowed for setting the time or the alarm with the first crown, depending on position. The date was handled by a small pusher.
