There are four tendencies (you can Google for more information) when we talk about individual personalities. About Jaemin, I think he's probably a Questioner (who responds to inner expectations, but not outer expectations). It means external requirements need to be justified. For instance, he could offer 100% for any activities related to NCTzen. This is his inner needs.

Competative is a personality trait. It stays with you. You ether are competative or you are not. Competative people want to win most of the time. In anything that is competative. Just because there are a few scenrios where you want to win doesnt make you competative. Try and think what happens most of the time. Some race, game or bet. What is your normal reaction? You want to win or you dont care that much but it would be cool of you won? That determines if you are competative. Want to win 8/10 competition=competative. The thing about Jaehyun is he seems competitive but unlucky 😅. It also appears to me that he doesn't strategize well (with exemption in Among US game that they did in Nct in Gapyeong). But it seems that many nct members (nct 127 in particular) consider him (and Johnny) as the strongest of them all. In one ep of nct world 2.0 Taeyong asked Johnny who is the fastest runner in nct (if it was Johnny or Jaehyun) and Johnny said they're almost the same. In nct life in Gapyeong, the team of DY was scared when Jaehyun & Johnny teamed up. But it turned out that Jaehyun actually lost to DY in tug or war (well Johnny as well, they said the floor was slippery)

I mean...I think what you describe here is just a non-competitive person. Most people will try really hard (occasionally) to get what they really want. A truly competitive person is someone who almost ALWAYS wants to win, regardless of the prize. They want to compete and win just for the sake of competing and winning. Winning itself makes them very very happy (e.g. Chenle, Renjun).

One reason, I think, why he has this level of competency is because he knew how his members love winning, or how his members are chaotic. And remember when he once said that his role is to maintain balance within the group, w/c he meant that when there's a need to be chaotic, he'll go for it, and when his fellow members are being overly chaotic, he'll stay calm. That's why his energy would always be 0% or 120%. Nothing in between. Coz he'd rather let his members win/play freely and won't dare to compete with the same intensity of competitiveness or else the game/fight won't end (Unless he'll sense the need to be competitive). He attracts fans with his heavenly smile, unlimited kindness (charitywork angel), his crazy sides, weird unbothered introvert sides, he constantly shows love and affection to czennies and his motherly vibes towards the dreamies. Now it safe to say that he’s one of the most popular member in NCT, (funfact: in South East Asia, the album sales of NCT 2020 resonance pt 1 the most popular is Taeyong (not suprised) followed by Jaemin (im suprised) with slight difference (SLIGHT DIFFERENCE Y’ALL u hear sumn) and he has the most watch solo Vlive out of NCT and he has the most retweeted birthday tweet out of every NCT member. Yep his power. Not to mention that his album version or photocard version always be the most buy and most expensive of all members and always got the most view in whatever fancam he in. Always got most liked picture either on Instagram or Twitter or Facebook. Wherever you want to put it. The fact that he’s been in the two most popular song of nct (MAW & HS) is just make this fact truer. The common of two nct hit popular song? Yes Na Jaemin. ** cheffkiss ** and i just know how nanadoongies loves what he achieve cause he deserves every single bit of it. Oh ya and he defff can put in the “he’s your bias eventho he’s not your bias” group. I really hope SM will give him a more proper and fair treatment cause he deserves it. When i say fair and proper treatment, i mean MORE SOLO CONTENT, MORE LINES, MORE JOB. I rest my case.
