I dont know why Odissi artists arent creating their own choreographies. We are watching the same old items from our Gurus because younger teachers are not expanding the repertoire and allowing Odissi to grow bigger and more appealing to new students. Odissi is a dying art form and people are turning to more exciting and fresh dance genres. We need to be more creative, energetic, imaginative and innovative to ensure the survival of this great art.

@@1nilu1 Namaskar 🙏🙏. I can understand your concern.. I love performing my Guruji's choreographies. Those can never be replaced. May be in future will start working more on new productions. Working more on creating our own choreographies is really a good suggestion. But Sir, it also bears a lot of expenditures, fine knowledge and time dedication. Well in time it can be done as we mature ourselves into fine Odissi exponents. But Odissi is not a dying art form, you might not get everything in you tube, rather you should visit different dance festivals showcasing new odissi dance productions by several Gurus as well as young dancers. You will of course enjoy seeing live performance rather than recorded ones. If everything is made easily available in you tube, there will chances of copying and people will stop going to live concerts.

@@ShatabdiOdissi I am miss Neelam, an Odissi student of 8 years from London and it is my goal or mission to bring more popularity and exposure to Odissi through stimulating, engaging and energetic movement of footwork, body work, gestures and expression.

Hmmmm nice to chat with you. So happy to learn about your interest in Odissi Dance. Just a suggestion, there are many beautiful and energetic items of our Gurus. Try learning them. There is a lot to learn from them. Keeping the tradition intact, these dances have so much footwork and energy and story. You will understand the level of each input. Too much force and energy may ruin Odissi. Odissi is a graceful dance and far different from Bharatnatyam. So before composing and coming out with new choreographies we all need to learn the traditional context of the dance form. @@1nilu1
