Today we received a new guidance system that recommends content based on your stats, quests and unlocks. We also received a number of changes to the PvP arena and a new fan content policy by Jagex.

I used to be a player in the rs2 days. You know. We were all young. We fought to teeth over forum deals and such regarding everything. I was around for rune essence and pure essence. I was around to f2p ess for cash too. I got to 91 rc. I didn't know of a better game. Well until I did. I couldn't imagine starting ever again, nor someone wanting to pick up this game for the first time. It is niche in my mind. I would say prove me wrong, but the bots prove me right. Grind away sadly if the bots are all gone for every piece at the Grand Exchange that never was, or just accept it. If you love it, I'm happy. It is a bygone era of grind to win you won't have back.

I think it's a great idea for new players, it'll feel like there's more direction within the game rather than feeling like you have to look things up constantly. Especially since quests feel overwhelming at first.

This is huge for absolute new players to the game. Just based on prior experiences it is extremely hard to get someone into rs, for them to stick with it. It’s long overdue to have in game “guides”. New players will have a much better time starting out now

The reason we don't have high retention on new players isn't because a lack of direction. It's because it's a 20 year old, point and click, kids game, which requires 500 hours before your new friend can actually play with you.

Activity advisor sounds great. Kinda like doing the quests in the 'optimal order' from Runelite's Quest Helper, But probably without the total step by step handholding to just fly through the quests without reading anything. A good middle ground for those who want to actually experience the game, but are stumped on what to be doing.

Quite a legal conundrum with their rules on content creation. A lot of it probably can't hold up in a court and is more like Jagex asking nicely for people to follow it.

By the word of the law there really isn't much to defend gameplay videos as fair use, and it would be extremely easy to argue it is not, so legally they can pretty easily just take down any RS related content they like, they're basically being nice by allowing content creation at all

The difference is nintendo owns the charcter rights and it might be a bit harder to claim rights on a couple polygons of a single item in the game. But then that would come down to how the product is advertised (talking more about physical items being sold). On the yt/twitch topic it becomes not as strongly held by copyright once you add a personality over the gameplay.

@@ClikcerProductions Most companies don't mind gameplay videos because they act as free advertising, Nintendo mind because they don't need free advertising, they're already well known with well established franchises, they also largely deal in solo singeplayer experiences which are arguably ruined by gameplay videos, for example I could watch an entire game and it's story and afterwards not feel the need to purchase it because I've already experienced it, granted not first-hand but for some people that's more than enough, and it saves them the money of buying the game (and potentially console)

This is great I've been sat in f2p with a bond for a week working out which quests to do to be able to maintain a bond (farming, barrows and some other unlocks etc) obviously it won't be perfect but once I've done those and I'm near a bond I can focus on the activity advisor a little more to make sure I'm still progressing even if it's not the most efficient way

I doubt there is a single person saying that about the advisor tab. That's just bullshit. There are people with that mentality but the advisor tab is not something that removes any sort of struggle or hardship. People are probably just salty because it's in RS3 and "RS3 bad" The thing that has actually made questing and progression 100x easier is the runelite quest helper plugin, but I haven't seen a single person complaining that it makes the game too easy. Because it does exactly that.

That’s a great idea for the game I tried to play rs3 last week it was garbage but I didn’t know what to do They started me in taverly or some shit And the display was overwhelming Way too much options Way too confusing to operate I juts felt frustrated and closed with control alt delete because I couldn’t find the log out button

If you put that you never played the game you receive a lot of helpful tips from the game, and recommended quests and activities too. The UI is confusing tho, it takes time to learn where everything is and customize it properly

I fear the AA wont be of much help to many players as it wont do as good job as things like the Quest Helper, while also likely not intelligently knowing what your goal is at that time, such as sometimes you don't do certain quests to avoid gaining Combat XP. Though it wouldn't be too hard for them to put a that turns off combat quests so that that's less of an issue.
