Being a British immigrant of over fifty years, I started work within two weeks of landing at Calgary Airport and retired when I was seventy years old. Luckily, although I was laid off a couple of times, I always found another job as my skills were transferable to most industries. We need Companies to provide us with jobs as we can’t all be CEO’s nor do we want to be. I worked in City Hall but only stayed a year and couldn’t get back to the private sector quick enough where we were treated as a part of the company’s success.
