Hi, Yes I agree, these both are fantastic cars! I had almost bought one at a car dealer but it was too rusty and I had no chance to fix it. But the interior was wonderful, leather seats and root wood wherever I looked. Today you don't get cars anymore with such interior. I like such videos of restoring little cars. That reminds me of the past.👍👍👍👍👍 Greetings and best wishes!

Wonderful job and attention to detail! As a child, this was my dream car, in black. I even repainted (very badly) my matchbox version. Jags were always famously built to an exact price for a luxury car, but stylistically and aesthetically look so much better and more modern than RR's/Bentleys and contemporary American cars of the period. A car of real beauty, they just look fast, like something out of Thunderbirds! The widest car of their day and even today, they'd probably miss most speed bumps unless they bottomed in the centre. As regards the colour of the red/pink one, I remember a local guy in 1970 bought an Xj and said the colour was "nipple pink" , certainly looks similar!

A car I well remember from my childhood. The vac-form interiors of the early models did rather spoil them, thinking about it now, but they were quite expensive, and were rarely smashed up - if you could - they were strong castings, and as such, the interior remained inside. Stock footage of a white Mk X going over a drop into a quarry, boot lid popping open on the way down, was a regular end to a car chase on many UK TV shows in the 1960's and 70's. Including The Sweeney. Your restoration + cars look simply incredible. Nice one. Saying that, I'd like a tatty one to make into a Banger. I'll keep my mincers peeled...🤔😆

A couple of gorgeous Mk10 Jags Rob .They look amazing , l knew a carpenter (chippy) on a site l worked oh who had a black Mk10 Jag with red leather interior. Superb job Rob 👍 I think you need to get yourself a 2ft long jar next , it's a shame cause we had one going spare that we kept spegetti in, that would've been perfect .... sorry the mother in laws got it now 😦...... 😄😉.... great work again! I used to pry those diamonds out with a pin needle. then again I used to be able to score strass diamonds in just the right sized at a shop downtown (the shop still exists, I used to get lots of toys and supplies there; they have shrunken down in size more than half. it's a terrible sight...) so I could replace them if needed. those clear lenses look great, too. :) I'll have to see if my little jar of Kristal Kleer is still good, it's glue that dries glass-clear and can be used to make lenses as well.

Hi rob. Yes, beautiful cars. I have two of these, one restored in two tone black and dark brown and the other in ten litres of mixed house paint. Will attempt to clean that up?. My favorite jag is the 420 compact but no one has ever bought out a diecast model ?. There was a plastic model 1/32 scale bought out in the early 70's? Very hard to get! Thin your wallet out too. Nice job, Barry will be very happy. Cheers.

Fancy! I don't think I've seen that trick with the headlights before. As for the lettering, it's hard to even envision painting something that small. I don't think my hands are that steady when I'm asleep, let alone trying to do something. Despite not being British, I have a favorite John Prescott moment, because I happened to watch a lot of bootleg Britsh TV back when he was in the government. I remember seeing a clip from a documentary he did on class in English society, where he was talking to a 20ish girl from East London and asked her what class she identified with. She said she didn't know but maybe middle-class? "You see, I would say you're working-class," said Prescott. The girl looked confused and replied, "But I don't work, innit." Johnny Two Jags didn't have an answer for that, as I recall. :)

Do NOT use caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) for removing paint from diecast metal, as it is far too aggressive. Diecast metal is an alloy of aluminium and zinc. Sodium hydroxide will react with and dissolve the aluminium, which was evident from all the gas that was being given off during the paint stripping operation, which means metal is being lost from the surface. I could see that the sodium hydroxide had ruined the smooth surface of the original diecasting to leave it with a rough appearance. Paint stripping should be done with a water-based paint stripper and agitated with a non-abrasive brush, after having removed all the windows and other plastics from the metal castings. If you compare the original painted surface of the cars you will see they had is a smooth gloss finish, with the restored cars, which had a rough appearance to the final paint. To do painting correctly and to get a good smooth finish to the final coat of paint, you have to start with a smooth surface, and not one that is rough and has been chemically eroded away.

Olá, sou o Rodrigo, aqui do Brasil. Obrigado!!!

You would think that Corgi would have provided an interior as well detailed as the rest of the model..
@louisvictor34734 жыл бұрын
That is the thing, it has the details that you can actually see from the outside without taking the car apart (which isn't their goal). You're already looking at a very close close-up in the end shots, and you still can't really see much. Adding purely aesthetic details that no one can really or even actually see has the same effect as not adding them.

These are great! I had a similar Corgi Jaguar when I was a kid. I don’t remember it’s original color. When I was maybe 7 or 8, I came across some of my mom’s Christmas crafts supplies, including a can of gold spray paint. Not being the skilled craftsmen you are, I coated my little Jag with a very thick layer of paint ... windows and wheels too. I ruined it. Until then, it was my favorite toy. After the paint job, I just lost interest. 😊
