You should get a warning on the dash display when the battery in the fob is running low e.g. ''Smart Key Battery Low'' It's a nice easy, cheap fix and you can actually us the emergency key that you remove first to pry off the silver side pieces and split the fob apart, so you don't need need a flat head screw driver to avoid busted finger nails.

Thanks for this video! For anyone whose key fob stops working, a couple of things to check. 1) Make sure you have the battery the right way up! The completely flat side is to the outside of the fob. The side with the circular indent is to the inside and faces the PCB. 2) For some reason Duracell put a plastic film on the side that makes the contact so check that isn't there on your battery. 3) Check the metal pin where the PCB touches the battery. They seem to come away from the PCB fairly regularly. Make sure that's still in place and doesn't need adjusted to make the contact. You definitely can just swap the battery on these without having to reprogram it (just done mine again). Good luck!👍

Believe it or not, once in a dealership in Portugal they charged me +20€ (US$21.7), and it was some years ago!!! I thought it needed some kind of programming and only later on I realized it didn’t. It’s absurd the way they milk Jaguar owners in Portugal. Thank you so much for your video, tomorrow I will buy the battery and change it myself on both keys.

Nice! That is pretty standard practice around here as well. Usually like a 1/2 hour of labor changed + a few $ for the battery. Pretty ridiculous

Use small snipe/rat nose pliers in the metal key aperture and pull to the side

Same, did you fix this in the end please? I’ve tried two different batteries. A new one then replaced it with the old one again, now neither work. The old battery was working just showing low on the dash

Timpsons in morrisons charged me £35 a year ago . Robbing bastards . Its a pound shop battery and needs no extra work regarding reprogramming. So costs a quid .
