I rebuit these whole assemblies off the car not too long ago. Something to be aware of-the bolt between the steering arm, the caliper, and the hub, had some circular shims on it that you have to be sure go back in the correct places. Their purpose is to ensure the caliper is perfectly aligned with the disc & not skewed to the side, & also ensure that there is no 'tension' within the steering arm piece once it is fully torqued up. due to manufacturing tolerances, shims are necessary for this. I replaced my calipers with remanufactured ones, & needed to add a washer between caliper/steering arm to ensure everything was straight/not stressed. Hope that makes sense.

What a fantastically complex calliper/knuckle arrangement, one of these things that takes the mickey out of you for 30 minutes and then almost falls in place. Now, was the bolt given a flat to provide non-rotation, or did it just need a little buff to clear that other part?

Hi Graham, the bolt at the end has its head ground off to clear the boss for the spring and damper pin. A curious thing which looks a lot like a bodge!

How did you get the accumulator of I can't get mine off
@jamieduff19812 жыл бұрын
It took a lot of torque. I had my wife help. We used a 3/8" drive Allen Key socket, a breaker bar and a length of scaffold pole to make a lever big enough for her. I gripped the pump assembly with a big set of pipe pliers so the breaker bar's torque wouldn't just rip the pump out of the bracket. It will come off - it's just on with a lot of thread lock compound. Hope this helps?

@@jamieduff1981 thanks for the reply I managed to get it off with a few tries with a rachet and extension

@@jamieduff1981 The very question I was going to ask! I managed to source a complete Teves system off a '92 XJ-S to ' 'easter egg' the components in and out to determine which was at fault: the fault being a very spongy pedal, despite the brakes pulling the car up quite firmly when the pedal had travelled a fair distance. In short, changed out the actuator/master cylinder - no difference; changed out the accumulator pump assembly, and found that the banjo connection is a different size (larger diameter) on the '92 car. So I'm waiting for a new high pressure hose from SNG. I also noted that my old front hoses and the high pressure hose from the accumulator pump were 'wet'. Now I have had a porous hose on an A/C System before, so I have ordered a new set of front hoses and high pressure hose. Will provide feedback on completion. Cheers Chris
