Like this one, love seeing the little bits getting fixed. She deserves to see the road again. Do what you can, it's great entertainment. Got my Series 3 Double Six out on Sunday again. Felt great to be behind the wheel again. 🇮🇪

I'm really enjoying your work on this old girl. I'm a bike fan really but they can do and relaxed style you have is brilliant. Plus it is a great old car you have there. Best wishes to you.

I had a jaguar fetish for years and had a bunch of them which I restored - this included a V12 "daimler" - a XJ6 on steroids 🤣However I eventually got tired of the ghastly wiring - all faded and not a little bit complicated not to mention Lucas Prince of Darkness. Nonetheless, your series has reawakened my love of these cars. I am however restraining myself valiantly to avoid divorce.... keep up the good work

Love seeing you work on these old jags. It was good to see you getting tank n/s cleared out. The cost of the tanks has really shot up. Last ones I looked at from British Autos was just under £400 here in the UK. On the subject of door cards I hate them as the way you have to push down on them to engage the door stops holding and 2 of my door cards are hanging off. Looking forward to seeing more progress when you get back. Regards, Geoff

If that car was in the UK people would be queuing around the corner to buy it! Rust has decimated so many old XJ's here in the UK and the banger racing boys have finished a lot of them off! BTW my daughter and her partner have been living and working in Melbourne the last year, They love Oz! 👌

Interesting to see the electrolysis. I'd put a fuse in the circuit, to make sure the metal stick doesn't fall and touch somewhere it shouldn't.

I have used a tank sealing product in the past, POR 50 but they are all the same. I would try getting as much rust out of that right hand tank and giving it a go with tank sealer - it will fill small holes - worth a try for about $50.
@tjmthejagmandownunder
@tjmthejagmandownunder 4 ай бұрын
We have it here, too, but you are supposed to take the tank out to use it. I guess it only needs to go on the bottom, though . I thinking I might give it a try
@leon0
@leon0 4 ай бұрын
@@tjmthejagmandownunderI agree it's worth a go. You'd probably need to spread the sealer up the sides of the tank some of the way. Maybe you could get one of those long handled painters brushes, I think they are for ceiling coving. Dead cheap and have an angled head. That would help through the filter cap and pump access holes. I think the sealer is too thick to spray. Now ethanol is everywhere on European petrol, I'm reading more recommendations for Caswell epoxy than for POR15. But that's a bit like saying WD40 isn't as good as GT85. They're both great.

Yes, changing tank(s), is a right pain. But if you have usable parts ready to use, you would be MUCH happier, Im sure. Jag saloon tanks sucked even on the old ones! Love,,,DUBS

It befuddles me how you can have an electric motor inside a fuel tank. I know petrol has explosive levels that won't ignite if too low or too high, but you would think at some point especially when fiddling with it, that the conditions would be met for it to explode. I sealed my tanks with Red-Kote about 5 years ago and it appears to have done a good job. 1981 XJ12

Brett where does the negative clamp go to when you’re doing the electrolysis. I couldn’t see but assumed it connected to the tank. Is that right? Love the phrase ‘heading back to the mainland’ for crossing the Hawkesbury 😂
