very helpful thank you. i need to remove the headliner on my 87 xj6. any ideas on where to start?

The easiest to get out is through the front or rear sunscreen. But if you are patient you can get it out through the back door. There is some material available on the web concerning the process.

Thanks. The woodwork in my 87 was re-veneered by British Autowood. The black leather grain vinyl is actually a 3M adhesive film from a firm that sells auto wrap products.

It does not matter which way the switch goes in it does matter which you put the wiring block to the switch. Not all models had black vinyl.
