Thank you for this video, I am about to replace the warning bulbs to LED but I hadn't noticed the small black plastic corner covers, now I can get on with the job, I'm hoping I can put the LED bulbs in while still connected so I can check the polarity. Cheers.

Excellent vid - thank you. My oil pressure gauge has done the same trick as your temp gauge. I was planning to buy a spare before attempting this job ( not ready available for the facelift ). So thats a big saving. Thanks again 👍

thanks for another helpful video on an XJS. There aren’t to many videos on XJSes at all. I have a facelift as well and appreciate your work. LOL when you had that funny voice and admitted to hold the camera with your mouth. Greetings from Germany.

Thanks for your message, yes I struggle to find helpful videos for the facelift cars, usually the videos/help focuses on the pre facelift.. where lots of things were different! Hopefully going to post a new video soon rebuilding the rear subframe, big job!

Thoroughly entertaining and very useful thank you. I need to change some warning light bulbs in my xjs. I can swear though as I'm not doing a video 🤣🤣🤣👍

@@jezchazania1336 thanks! I've already had a copyright claim haha despite using music within Canva that is allowed. So I've created my own music which will be on my next video. 🙂

Hi, I was actually watching this in the hope of finding out how to replace a warning bulb, specifically my Sport Mode bulb, which isn't coming on (though selecting S-mode does make a difference, so that in itself is working). Roughly 2m15s in you are doing the strip that seems to cover these bulbs... is there any way to access them to replace one?
@jaguarxjsocd Жыл бұрын
Once the unit is out.. lay it down on its front. Along the top are around 25 black bulb holders, they simply turn and release.

I have a 1995 XJS Convertible with 4.0 engine. Is there some trick to making the oil pressure gauge work correctly? I have the annoying problem of the needle going to zero at idle, I have noticed on other XJS videos the same problem exists also. What gives with the gauge? By the way, I enjoyed the video and I subscribed!

Short answer is no .. I'd start by eliminating the cluster gauge being dead, by doing what I accidentally did to this coolant temp gauge (shorting it out).. if it flips out and needs resetting then it's getting it's signal. If it is not the guage then I guess I'd trace wiring as best I could to the sensor and just replace it.. then assuming oil level/viscosity etc is correct pray everything worked!

So does it work after all that? I’m having same issue but in oil pressure gauge
@jaguarxjsocd2 жыл бұрын
Yes, sorry I should have shown it working after I had reassembled. Obviously with my temp gauge I had caused it to short, so with your oil pressure gauge, you will need to try this, if it flips round again as soon as you turn the ignition I assume you have a short/fault somewhere else you need to address.

Excellent. Glad it worked out in the end. Thank you for the video. I will be attempting this step by step per your video this Thanksgiving weekend. Very excited as thought I was going to have to live with that broken gauge. Cheers friend. 🙂

Hahah 8 months later…… I have psychologically cheered myself on and performed this removal of dash and gauge adjustment and it was successful for oil pressure gauge. Thank you so so so much for everything again.

I have a problem where my speedometer is stuck at max and acts weirdly when i turn on my lights. All the gauges max out and my gauge lights do not come on. Voltage is low too, but my battery and alternator were tested, and are running well. Please help

I think you have recently posted on Facebook groups.. I did share this video to assist in the cluster removal.. however as I read your posts more I would assume you have some earth/electrical issues affecting the cluster. If it was my car I would first remove the cluster, check connections and make sure nothing obviously wrong there. Then I'd move on to earth connections in and around the dash/under ski slope.

@@jaguarxjsocd Thank you for the response! Yes, I’m Erriyon in the facebook group with the LHD 1994 4ltr convertible! Which connectors can I check once I remove the dash, and where is the one for the light that illuminates the cluster? Just want to know what I would look for exactly Also are there any relays that go to the cluster or control it?

@@IIIStageProductions unfortunately I'm not an auto electrician, tbh I'm not an mechanic haha but I get by learning as I go. So my video will help you get the cluster out, after that I'm afraid you'll have to either get stuck in or ask for help from an auto electrician. Unless of course there's something blatantly obvious wrong with the cluster. Once removed you'll quickly understand where bulbs are, they are very easy to access along the top and everything is connected with a flexible circuit board/plastic sheet kinda thing. My thoughts are you will reset the dials during removal.. but the reason it is happening is elsewhere in the car/wiring/sensors.

So, XJS 4.0 1992 , I had voltage reading 8v , putting on the indicators would make the voltage 'dance' putting on lights would 'throw' the voltage to zero. BUT, the car ran and charged the battery for a few hundred miles of driving. I should add, the car had been on a 7 week sea journey. First thoughts, Alternator, then rectifier regulator, and so on. Coming to this really great video, I thought I'd remove and 'look' at the instrument panel as a general learning experience (especially as the speedo was not working) So, loads of the connectors looks 'tired' and I cleaned the connectors carefully. Put the instrument panel back and yes, the speedo worked again... BUT unbelievably, the voltage dial showed 13 plus volts, car light turned on make no difference to volt gauge and indicators did not make the voltage dial 'dance' In summary, what looked like an alternator/charging problem, came back to being dodgy connectors to the instrument panel itself.... for what it's worth....

can anyone provide any help on removing the wood panel that sits in front of the airbag?
@jaguarxjsocd3 жыл бұрын
Sorry just saw this.. did you figure it out? I think it is actually a metal plate with veneer on the later air bag equipped models.
