2:21 oh man look at those fuel prices. 😥 That's the most nostalgic thing about this.

About £1.04 in todays money. More than it was in 2020...

@@trainman665 For a few months in 2020...when you weren't allowed to go anywhere unless "essential". Then doubled in 2022. Now over £1.40 in 2024 and rising. So yeah, using 2020 lockdown prices as an example of whats typical of the era is a very false comparison.

@@soundseeker63 On the whole fuel prices haven’t strayed much beyond the rate of inflation.

@@trainman665 If we just ignore the madness of 2022, yes. Probably in line with inflation (which in 2022/23 was the highest it had been for decades).

Here's thought - Even with fuel consumption of 10-15mpg, at those fuel prices in 1992, it would have cost the same to run as a car that does around 60mpg in 2022! That means that your typical Ford Fiesta 1.5 diesel is as expensive to run NOW and that huge V12 Jag was back then!..... CRAZY TIMES! 😒
@gordonthomson7533 Жыл бұрын
That's bollocks. 47p in 1992 was the equivalent of 94p in 2022. 1 litre of unleaded fuel in 2022 was £1.90 (e.g. twice the fuel price shown in this video, in real terms). 10mpg:60mpg is obviously 1:6 (so same cost would need a fuel price of 6*0.94 = £5.64 per litre) 15mpg: 60mpg is 1:4 (so same cost would need a fuel price of 0.94*4 = £3.76) It's funny that people talk out their arse, it's sad that others believe them.

@@gordonthomson7533 I don't get why people seem to have a blindspot to inflation when talking about fuel prices. They all for some reason think it was actually 1/3 of the price..

J-reg - just like mine. I'll have to call BS to 10mpg though, morelike 19-20 for me.

If you are going by the fuel computer they are notorious for some of them being over optimistic, having said that I average 21mpg from a 5.4 litre Merc without trying very hard so I can believe it's not far off.
@liverpoolscottish6430 Жыл бұрын
Are you actually switching your 6 litre V12 to get such an MPG figure? You'd be doing well to get 15 Mpg out of the 6 litre.
@neilp190 Жыл бұрын
I agree 10 mpg, rubbish! I have exactly the same model and get 16/17 mpg

This man is alway incapable of not bashing English cars none stop. Buttons were fine. Windscreen wipers are windscreen wipers. Mpg… it’s a v12 It’s like driving a post box… your very tall, it’s a low sport GT. blah blah blah…

I own one. Everything he says is completely true, and more besides: Can you see at turnings? No! You sit so far back and so low that blind junctions are even more "fun" than usual. The turning circle is nautical. It's hilariously bad. It drinks like Boris Yeltsin having a St Paddy's party with George Best. The steering wheel blocks the view of some of the warning lights. This should have been an easy thing to sort, but they never did. The footwell is narrow. There really is nowhere for your left foot. Even as a lady with my small feet and dainty ballet flats it's a problem. Can't imagine what it's like trying to drive it with Clarkson's size 14 clown shoes. Never mind his height! The 3 speed is terrible. It just is. Why does it need to be able to do 80 is 1st? The CD changer in mine used to skip, but started to work again randomly a few years ago. Who knows! Would I change it? Not really! It's not a car for daily use. It makes sacrifices which are considered unacceptable today in order to be the ultimate grand tourer. Which is why it always will be. It's just such a glorious way to travel! It just feels so special, right, and unique.
