In 1983 I was a 17 year old hardcore punk kid. I remember seeing this record, at the literally underground record store, where I bought all my punk rock albums, and being absolutely intrigued by the album artwork. I of course knew who The Edge was and I knew Jah Wobble's name from the first Public Image record, but I ventured no farther than that. Fast forward to 2020. I am now 53 years old and absolutely loving my first listen to this album. Absolutely fantastic. I am glad I waited to listen. At 17 I would have no appreciation for it.

@@dee_seejay I'm 57 (as of 2020) and this was one of those albums way ahead of it's time - or maybe spot on the pioneering 'button' - i absolutely loved it then - and NOW - the same!!!

I bought this on vinyal at golden records Galway Ireland.i got so high listening to this album smoking lebenese ,Pakistan,best hash ever.56 this year still spinning this album and skinning the hash.....✌💚

I found the album sounded better after a few spins on the turntable and a few tokes of hashish. The album is ok and better than much of the recent top -forty drivil .

@@sipsun8 I believe it was Blueberry kush and the brand name is Blueberry Hash strips. I live in Canada and buy the hash from the cannabis dispensaries . I used to buy exotic hashish like Red or blond Lebanese , Moroccan and Afghani on the blackmarket years ago . There are four or five different varieties at the dispensary the best being Bubble-hash .

Here in Switzerland everything is still illegal... only excellent products -- hash, flowers and various resins -- with a low level of THC (max 1%) and high levels of CBD, CBG, CBN! For us sick people it's better than nothing but having to still turn to the black market is scandalous. Unfortunately the new jumble of politicians who govern us have made things worse!! In the nineties, for about ten years, here in Italian Switzerland (south of the Alps), there was a legislative vacuum that allowed the production and sale of excellent flowers that were grown not only in greenhouses or indoors with lamps, in magnificent cultivations in the mountains. High Times magazine did a wonderful article and on that occasion I met its author, the famous Ed Rosenthal -- the Guru of Ganja -- who wrote some magnificent cultivation manuals... Out of print and off of streaming services, this album, with its unique mix of musicians, is great to have available on KZbin. But while Holger Czukay, Jah Wobble, and The Edge all made some of the most innovative and compelling music of the era in their primary projects, it’s interesting how the combination just ends up creating songs that are light and fun but mostly forgettable. Compare Brian Eno and David Byrne around this same time similarly being inspired by African rhythms and coming up with music as powerful as Remain in Light and My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. It’s funny how unpredictable the chemistry between different musicians can be. Another artist who similarly finds inspiration in the cross-pollination of musical traditions-if in a more introspective “I contain multitudes” approach rather than collaboration-is Craggs-Farallon (kzbin.info/door/nHfzXZVuU769al_ccIcjRwvideos)
