Much respect for this. Our Indian culture is nearly 4000 years old, survived countless wars, invasions, occupations, and now our people span the globe. We may be separated from the lands of our ancestors by 1, 2, or maybe 10 generations but we are still Indian. Some of my friends are Hindu, some are Muslim, some are Sikh and some are Christian, but we acknowledge our common traditions and motherland.

I’m black American too and a lot of our people need to see this video too in the USA anything that is even a little bit black sounding is demonized and automatically associated with lower education or “the ghetto”. It’s a shame and sad that we’re so quick to assimilate into white culture without realizing America wouldn’t have anything to call culture without us.

It is always sad to see behavior that show ignorance and intolerance for others in one way or another. Everyone has some kind of prejudice for others, even within our own family and community and when we show disrespect it is always hurtful to those that it is directed to. I live in Canada, and I have first hand experience. Let's start to show more love and not hatred and share our differences. Life is too short for hate.Thanks for all your great videos, at least you guys recognize the faults in our culture and have the guts to address it in your own way...Keep up the good work!!!!

I am also from Fiji. Our ancestors were brought from India as semi slaves. It is so difficult living in a country where we are not welcomed. I have had to endure many racial discriminations and even to this date there are several natives who opening state that we should go back to India despite us bring third generation born here. I wonder if you are undergoing similar experiences.

I am sorry to hear that Indians are being treated so terribly. There are parts of the world where racial discrimination is happening much, United States, Canada, UK, Europe, ....this is still a problem many places, some more than others. But we have come a far way, we still have much more to go. We need to stop the hating, negativity and show more love and kindness. It is very easy to get lost in this world, but all things come back to us good or bad. Better to have the good great things. Continue showing your kindness, love, and peace, for it shows your true nature and character, which is a more greater reward and sense of well worth than anything else. So do not get discouraged, continue holding your heads high and showing the love. Blessings. C.R.

This video has a strong message, but there seems to be a sense of Indian nationalism in the comments as if we indo-Caribbean people is the same as the Indian from India. Yes, know where our ancestry is from, but to really OPEN ABY EYE, we must also acknowledge that our culture is no longer “Indian” but something different from that of our motherland. We are only Indian in Guyana and Trinidad, but not in India. Our culture has not survived in its wholeness for generations, but has adapted tremendously. Don’t believe me? Who speaks Hindi in the Caribbean anymore, all the old people dead out. Our food? must try asking an Indian for a dhalpuri you won’t find what your looking for. Hence, our culture has roots from India but it has also gained new elements that define us as Indo-Caribbean not Indian. Remember, our ancestors chose to leave India as indentured labourers, but let’s be real, that is just another FORM of slavery and would never be tolerated today with the humanitarian concerns of it all. So why would our people want to leave the motherland? put all the lies and pride aside... our ancestors were living in famine ridden communities and we’re of low caste in india. Of course if yuh nuh have job and your starving indentured servitude for a couple cents a month and cruel treatment is way better than living in the gutters. So our mother land was not so great for ‘our people’ and if you ask me, Trinidad and Guyana is far from perfect but compared to where we’d be today I’m glad we left. You must Respect your heritage but must respect your country too to many of us act Ashamed! Be proud of what you really are and Open Yuh eye.

Nick N cast is made by British to divide indian society. ..
@nickihendricks3248
@nickihendricks3248 6 жыл бұрын
Nice thought! However, the caste system was in effect before British colonism as caste is derived from the Vedas. A portion of the vedas was interpreted in Hinduism that your stature in life is a reflection of your religious purity; hence those, whom we’re rich, we’re pure and deserved to be, while those who were poor were not very pure in their past lives and are thereby at the bottom of the chain and the furthest away from being one with God. Regardless of this history it’s irrelevant to my point that we indocarribeans are Indian by race but not by nationality so the fact that people of indocarribean decent are showing Indian nationalism as if that’s their country makes zero sense and is disrespectful to their own heritage.
@गुर्जरमिहिरभोज

Nick N there is no cats system brother it was" verna system " its based on work just like if u r farmer or u r doctor thats ur cast thats all...its not related to cast system ...hope u understand. . My English is not so good
@nickihendricks3248
@nickihendricks3248 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, but these roles farmer, Doctor, servant, had different priveledges, and the low status people couldn’t get jobs as they were very poor. The caste or verna system was discriminatory. Records have shown the the migrants who came to the Caribbean were from famine ridden villages in India which makes sense becuase no middle or upper class Indian would come to the Caribbean to make a few cents a month. Indentured servitude began in the 1830’s that’s almost a century that we have been away from India. A Jamaican will never call himself an African because they recognize they are no longer the same despite being black. So yes we’re all brown / Indian race I respect that but we’re not all Indian people. My ancestors have been in Guyana for over 10 generations and our culture is not the same as india’s hence our ethnicity is Guyanese not Indian. My overall point is to respect where you came from and your nationality.

Exactly, that is the point of this video...all of us have unique names. Due to outside influence, some become ashamed of their names and start calling them selves by what they feel they will be accepted by.
