Listen to me because I went through the same situation. I had 2 young children and was a "stay-at-home" mum. No close family around for emotional support so I did feel trapped. I eventually got out when my children were in high school and I wish that I had done so earlier. It has affected my children, negatively, who are grown up and independent now. I comment here every week on how accurate this portrayal of an abusive narcissist is. Some of the textbook tactics / behaviours of my ex - feeling relief when I am sad or crying, “accusing” me of being a “feminist” or losing his temper if I said anything he perceived as “feminist”. Triangulation and giving importance to other people to feed my insecurities - Sherry does it with Natasha and my ex used some of his “female friends” and side ladies.
