Jak and Daxter blew my child mind away. It was everything I didn't know I wanted in a video game and still holds up technically and visually.

The textures on that big castle thing at around 7:00 are absolutely stunning for a 2001 game. Naughty Dog to this day does some of the best texture work in the entire gaming industry

The Jak games are honestly some of the only PS2 games I can think of that used cubemap reflections in a big way. I know some of the late Ratchet and Clank games had the odd cubemapped reflective material, but Jak and Daxter use that technique on huge architectural structures all throughout the game, and it looks fantastic for something running on the PS2.

@@theblah12 Andy Gavin was truly a master programmer that was consistently ahead of his peers and it still shows when you go back and look at what they were able to accomplish.

@Frogger jak 2 was for sure a little different but I still love Jak 3. The story was solid, characters were solid, and the amount of resources the game gives you to play around with combined with cheats and old school glitches was glorious. And Precursor Legacy was an art piece 🤌
