North Korean can buy DVDs at a street vendor which has a flower logo at the top of its stall, the flower logo is Mokran, a company which produce DVDs in North Korea, I found some Disney DVDs in Pyongyang, the most recent movie is like the Loraks, not quite the latest, the other foreign movies are seems like from Russia.

For all the people who are wondering, all the films that are sold have been made in North Korea by Studio SEK, it's a North Korean animation studio that made a lot of animated movies for Europe and the United States. For example Marcelino, Futurama Bender's Big Score, The Simpsons Movie, Avatar: The Last Airbender... And no, these are not Disney movies, they are "copies" made by Mondo World, an Italian company that makes its animations in North Korea.

@@samsara_miko but it's not the 90s anymore. A bmw 5 series from the 90s was a nice car, and some people may have even given you a thumbs up as you drove by in 1995. But it's not 1995 anymore, Nobody compliments you on your 1995 5 series in 2021. Unless it's a special 5 series like a m5 or something. But even then they'd have to be a car enthusiast to know the difference between a m5 and a normal bmw 5 series from 1995.

This is literally time travelling. As a person from Eastern Europe who grew up in similar environment, there are some things that I miss now (the little traffic, the times when shop vendors gave you their stuff for closer inspection no problem without worrying that you would steal them not paying, the incredible amount of open space in the neighborhoods, the absence of noise and light pollution...). Then there are of course many things I wouldn't miss at all. But it's nice to see there are still countries in the world that remind me of my youth.

It's probably a district where foreighners are allowed to visit, I'm not sure but, I know here in Romania during communism when Ceausescu tried to copy North Korean isolation there were some places where you could buy western stuff like Chocolate and bananas but werent actually accesible for common romanians.

Hi, I am a subscriber from South Korea. First at all, I really appreciate that you upload lots of video in Pyeonyang. I had never seen a real life from North Korea, but nowdays I could know from your video. It is really new experience, and interesting. I want to ask you one thing!! I am really qurious, how can you be there, and how can you take so many video there????

+The Mercury HI, thanks for subscribe..Well, I have work here in North Korea, but now my work is finished, and already went back to my own country in Indonesia. Every Foreign residents who live in North Korea can go around freely in Pyongyang. well, its not always easy for me to take pictures and videos in NK, its depend on the poeple you met. Old people seem more suspicious when seeing foreign people with camera..but younger people are more OK with that. I used to came to the location which I want to take pics or videos before to see the conditions or the people, do they OK with me and my camera or not. But mostly NK people are friendly, so we can make friends, I can came several times to make them accustomed to my presence and then I came with my camera and they are OK

One thing I have noticed, Jaka, in your videos is about the girls who run these stands, or the girls who work the cash registers at the stores you have been in. There may not be any customers around, but these girls/women are CONSTANTLY busy, doing something. Clicking away on the cash registers....writing things down on tickets...or like this girl at the DVD stand--she is constantly rearranging or shuffling or restacking her DVD's. A job I'd have finished in 20 minutes. Yet, these women are always busy. I don't understand it. What are they doing? How can they always be doing something? Is there that much work to do? Or are they making an effort just to appear busy all of the time? Like at the "privileged stores" in your other videos-- the women who were at the checkout counter were always clicking away with the mouse connected to their terminal, or writing things down on tickets or in books. They are NEVER just standing there looking like there is nothing to do. Why is this? With hardly any customers, there simply cannot be something to do all of the time. Like the girl running this DVD kiosk, she is constantly doing something!!

Maybe because they DO know they are being filmed and don't want to appear like they are lazy and may get in trouble? Usually employees make themselves look busy when someone important is on the premises or nearby. Maybe that's why? So this could all be fake just to show that NK is a "great" place.
