One significant problem I forgot to mention in the video, especially present in the Tanjung Priok, Cikarang, and Rangkasbitung Lines is that some platforms are too short meaning if you're in the wrong car, you could miss your station. The Integration with other modes and land use surrounding the stations also deserves its own video, actually most lines deserve a 5-10 minute in depth explanation video. This tier list video is really just the basics from a passenger perspective.

@@shindoride Also mind blowing that the only one that have decided to make content like this is not a Jakartan but a Serpong-ers like me (I'm from LK) lmao. I honestly hope Tangerang will start getting their shit together and actually build infrastructure. Crazy despite the whole of Tangerang has more people than Bekasi or even Central Bandung and Surabaya!

I think its because we're so transit depraved, even just regular buses seem interesting. Here in Gading Serpong, one developer built a lot of bus stops but provides no service, the other one runs their buses every 2-4 hours.

Ah yes, Rangkasbitung Line. From Tanah Abang with crowded transfer passenger, Palmerah and kebayoran with good integration, Pondok Ranji and Sudimara with decent station but very bad access, Jurangmangu and Cisauk with good TOD in the middle of car centric suburbia, Rawabuntu with strategic location yet humble Angkot connection (AFAIK), Serpong with narrow as hell platform, many stations in the rural areas that become target of greedy land speculant and developer, Rangkasbitung that need new building ASAP, and Tenjo with goofy ahh short platform and rail crossing on the road.

@@shindoride The ridiculous thing about Tenjo station is not just about the short platform, but the reason why it's still short platform till today. There is railroad crossing that literally side by side with the station building. This make the station unable to extend it's platform, meanwhile they can't extend it on the other side because the rail is curving, prevent to make it good stop point for the train. The station building it self are still remain the old small wooden building just like many small stations on the line before get massive renovation. The short platform are just non-permanent platform (peron bancik). The only way to extend the platform lenght is moving the road farther which is the job for the local government since it's inter province road. Edit : Curently, only 6 cars of train that got the platform on the track bound to east (Tanah Abang) and 8 cars only on the track bound to west (Rangkasbitung). The remaining of the train cars that don't get the platform are also blocking the road. Edit 2 : There is a project that already started to make fly over for the road, so the railroad crossing will be erased and the station can extend it platform (hopefully upgrading their station too).

For additional information: All types of transport modes this video mentioned use "KRL (Kereta Rel Listrik)", which all rely on electric power to operate. In English, KRL is referred to as EMU (Electric Multiple Unit). Indeed, even high-speed railway (HSR) use KRL (EMU). "KRL" is not a service or brand, but merely a type of vehicle, similar to "electric bus" or "diesel car." For the specific commuter train services operated by KAI Commuter you are referring to, it should be called the "Commuter Line."

It depends, KRL's proper translation should be "Electric Train". As for "EMU", well if the electric train is pulled by a locomotive (like TGV), then the electric train is not EMU as each of the cars won't have electric motors. But our KRLs are indeed EMUs.

Can we agree that Bogor Line alone is responsible for giving the largest commuter workers every day? Well thanks to Bogor, Bojong Gede, Citayam, and Depok Baru stations which can get dangerously crowded, no cap. 😬 They also need to fix the delay issue between Tebet and Manggarai tho.

As an (ex-)frequest user, I have SOO many things to say about Jakarta's public transportation infrastructure, but overall, I think it's heading in the right way and I'm geniunely excited for the future, when more and more lines are expanded. Few things though: - Transit between LRT Jabodebek's Dukuh Atas Station and KRL Sudirman Station is... pretty rough. From Dukuh Atas, you have to walk through very long bridge (I also have something to say about this bridge, but that's for another time), and then go down to enter Sudirman Station's building. Here's the thing: At this point you *CANNOT* exit the station and go to the street. Shame, as they actually pedestrianized the street, but the pedestrian road doesn't reach the bridge to Dukuh Atas Station. Instead, you HAVE to enter and pay Rp1 and go through the station's 1st platform. The paying part is not the problem, the problem is the fact that you have to go inside the ticket gate at all. Imagine doing this at rush hour--you'd have to go through mass of people in the train platform to transit to LRT Jabodebek. - Transit between KRL Cawang Station and TransJakarta and/or LRT Jabodebek Cikoko Station is confusing. - Cawang Station is also very small, despite it being a transit station to TJ and LRT. IMO it needs a massive expansion. Isn't the land in front of the station empty? Can't you use that instead of letting it sit there doing nothing except being an abandoned car showroom? - The bend near LRT Cawang Station, urgh. Why the heck is it so slow, man? Compared to the one in Kuningan, it's night and day. I read somewhere that this happens because of the miscommunication between KAI side and the train's software's contractor There's still things I like about Jakarta public transportation though: - KAI's new design language is *very* good and clear. Also it's probably one of the most successful and consistent rebrand I've ever seen in my entire life IMO - MRT Jakarta is such a gem. - Cheap AF - TransJakarta is getting a massive improvement to many of its bus stops all over Jakarta and I really like it. Please make more videos! I watch a lot of Japanese public transit KZbin channel like 西園寺 and wished that there are also channels like that from Indonesia. I have some topic requests, would you make a video talking about INKA's new train for Jakarta commuter line? Pretty interested with it especially they decided to manufacture our own instead of importing used JR E217

Very nice and detailed video, I've always been interested and impressed by Jakarta's rapid transit system. Wished we had something like that over here in Manila. However, I do really think that the lines have a huge problem with capacity. Many sections (including the ones you mentioned in the video) need to be quad tracked to relieve congestion, particularly in and out of the approach to and from Manggarai, Manggarai to Duri, and sections that share track with the Airport Express. Perhaps expanding and revamping the station layouts of the stations on the branch line of the Cikarang line, and major stations such as Kota Tua could help as well. Perhaps even link it up with Duri and create a loop line to further relieve congestion and improve connectivity? Idk. Quite nice to see that integration with other modes of transport such as Transjakarta are being improved as well, really paving the way to be a world-class system that rivals neighbours such as Bangkok's. Also, no offense but I found the video quite hard to understand due to the very thick accent 😭 Not bad but the Indonesian accent is very apparent, makes some words incomprehensible to me, still understood but had to rewatch several times (just had to point this out, really bugged me, but your English is still very much fluent) 😅 Once again, great video. Would love to see more on other Indonesian cities, perhaps even abroad.

Yep, a tunnel (most likely) connecting duri with kota would be nice and tangerang line trains would be able to connect directly with the Bogor line. I am slightly concerned with the risk of flooding though with that idea. And now that you told me that, looks like my next video needs subtitles 🤣.

Hmm, I've never organized or joined a meet up before. But I know some transit communities here do meet ups so if they every do that again, I could join that and you and other Shindo 7/Ride viewers can meet up there. Also the editing process is pretty simple. You just take a map from Snazzy maps (copyright free), then you put it in paint.net and draw the lines on top of the map on different layers. Then just save the individual layers separately and put them on your editing software. I use Filmora and you can do some very basic animation there to, so I just animate a box representing the trains, following the line.

I love how I was just "???" looking at Cikarang Line at the maps in the trains and after looking at this video it only changed to "??? Why???" Rangkasbitung was fine from my experience going to ComiFuro. Tanjung Priok is fine, but they close at 7PM or so, I once got jebaited because I thought it'd run until midnight like other lines/stations. On an off note, I've once been brought to Tanah Abang by the GoStation service because I didn't check what station they're bringing me to... And never again. Just give me Gondangdia - in my book, the Bogor Line is outright S tier putting aside the Nambo-Bogor and Mangaria splits.

As someone who used to transit through Duri frequently, you are absolutely correct that Duri is more often than not MORE brutal than Tanah Abang For starters one Peron only has a *single* escalator set to go up & down and it breaks so frequently you wonder if Duri has reduced budgets or something During rush hour it has the crowd of Tanah Abang but narrower and one peron only has a single way to go up

I personally think Rangkasbitung line is the best KRL line in term of: 1. Headway (10-20 mins; mostly on schedule so we can believe the timetable), 2. The tracks (its double track is usually used by that line only) 3. The trainset itself (all of them are 10 cars; most of them are pretty good JR; altho recently they got 10 cars vintage TM from 70s I suppose...?) 4. The views (greeeenns hence its colorway; feels like a trip to a countryside; and Tanah Kusir cemetery on the way, ofc!) Some stations are pretty good like Palmerah, Kebayoran, Cisauk, Tanah Abang and (new) Jurangmangu... Some are just ok like Rangkasbitung, Rawa Buntu, Serpong (with its deadly stairs), Parungpanjang and Maja... Mostly are nah but still bearable except for Tenjo which is a pure NG. Overall pretty good, no complain. * Except for those days where random things just happened and turn this line into a nightmare. ** OOC but its from my perspective as a human being live in Depok 😅

I think Bekasi/Cikarang to Pasar Senen route is a hidden gems. It is true that the headway is 30 miniutes, but looks the crowed, even in the rush hour, you can still get the chair, and if you must stand, that is much better than Manggarai route. And you can follow the train schedule so don’t need to wait too much longer. If you from Bekasi and your office in Pasar Senen route, you will agree with me.

Most things going to Manggarai end up a lot less crowded after actually getting to Manggarai. The feeling of the train suddenly emptying out is surreal. It's like an epilogue of an action packed, maybe even tragic movie where everyone died.

However, I didn't know that "infrequent" part and stuck in Kemayoran for an hour. Went several time on the other days, and I didn't regret it. Now I have the full documentation of 82 stations. As someone who uses the Bogor line like 5 days a week in a minimum, I have a love hate relationship with this line. PARTICULARLY because recently they changed the schedule. Before there's a train in 5:09, 5:12/5:14, 5:17 THEN 5:20ish AM but NOW it's only 5:09 and 5:20 AM WHAT HAPPENED?????????? IT'LL BE LIKE 5:30 AND THE TRAINS ALREADY CROWDED LIKE COME ONNNNNNNNN. Also a bad experience I had in 30th November 2022: waited at tanjung barat since 13:00 SHARP and the train got delayed from 13:30 to 13:45. Good God I still didn't know what happened there. Other than that I think your tier list is accurate. Maybe you should do a Trans Jakarta tier list next? As a person who lives in Bintaro I can confirm that Rangkasbitung line has so little bit of delay because once the train stopped at one station takes 2-5 minutes before it get going again and getting in or out is the problem due to lack of time to reach Tanah Abang and how crowded one coach is. so example: you reach your station in the Rangkasbitung line and the train has around 1-3 minutes before going again and your reaction was late to get off the train then the train departure and then you either take the train to go back or rather use taxi from the next station.

So that's it.And there is the Tokyo Metro 6000 Series, namely the 6005 Fleet, many spare parts have also been given to the 6006 and 6007 and the 6005 cannot run properly if put on the main line. Rangkasbitung line has a PRP - RK so you can take an PRP service to PRP then go to RK with a PRP-RK oh and there's a MRI - RK only in the afternoon and a THB - TGS every 3 hours (its so rare that it shows as Tanah Abang instead of Tigaraksa) .

Yes, right now, getting from Serpong to Bogor with KRL requires a detour to Central Jakarta, making it much faster to drive instead.

KRL Bogor Line is both a nightmare and a heavensent. You got a line connecting the three major cities of Indonesia (Jakarta-Depok-Bogor) into one line and make people from those cities be able to commute easily to other cities at a cheap price, however, the amount of bodies you have to go through during peak or non-peak hours, the horrible body odors of the people, the questionable sanitary issues with the carts and the stations, the regular pickpockets and rapists, and lastly the ungodly timing and confusing schedules made you think twice before boarding the train.

Speaking about train, i think you need to look intercity train that goes from rangkasbitung to merak. I used it frequently in my college time, and it also having its improvement, from tanah abang - merak which you can use it even if you dont have train tickets (use flazz/krl card) and sneek to bathcroom (during tickets checking) to Rangkasbitung - merak which feel like truely intercity train right now

Thankfully a 4 track line currently being built at various chokepoints in the Cikarang line like the Manggarai-Jatinegara 4 track which I hope to god is given top priority for completion, and the Bekasi-Cikarang 4 track which might sadly still be in the land aquisition phase

LRT Jabodebek according to a colleague working in Thamrin area from home in Cibubur and Bekasi Barat: They are so slow, that the time it takes to reach Dukuh Atas (and transfer to MRTJ/Transjakarta Koridor 1) is the same as driving a car. This is also the case for LRTJ Kelapa Gading. It is so slow that the traffic jams of Kelapa Gading and awfully long traffic lights at Jl Pemuda matches the travel time of the light rail. MRTJ is clearly the best, better than some of the world's major metro, even the ones in Tokyo - where it is modelled after. Singapore MRT (SMRT) which give the namesake for the system, now are becoming old people country's service, which makes their AC feels like a fan without chiller.

Interesting, thank you for giving a drivers prespective of Jakarta's rail network. Next time I ride those, I should check the average speed with a gps speedometer.

Even though the Cibubur Line of LRT Jabodebek is not a fast one, I think the Cibubur Line would fit best for the rush hour. I live near TMII, so if I want to go to CBD like SCBD, Thamrin, etc, I have two options: Corridor 9/9C of TransJakarta and Cibubur Line of LRT Jabodebek. On non-rush hour, I prefer TransJakarta as it provides a cheaper and maybe faster commuting option. The thing is, during rush hour, the traffic is a hell of traffic, especially between Cawang Sentral (Cawang UKI) to Tegal Mampang (Tegal Parang) bus stop and could go up to more than two hours from Pinang Ranti to Sudirman. God knows how grateful I am after the Cibubur Line was settled.

I showed this to my mother living in tokyo she said "新宿には都市間電車が走っていますが、これほどひどいものではありません" Which you can translate it via a google translate button underneath it. She's also surprised that there's no sidewalk in the most of the city
@shindoride
@shindoride 10 ай бұрын
Yep, but Shinjuku is bigger than all our intercity train stations. Gambir is tiny considering how many intercity lines stop there. And yes a large chunk of the city has no/very bad sidewalks, though there are also some really good ones like in Sudirman & Thamrin road.

The only complain of LRT Jabodebek that i have is the frequency on green line, specially because that line is the connection line between HST Halim station towards city centre. Considering from dukuh atas to Cawang they designed to have 5 minutes frequency, they have no reason to having 30 minutes gap on Cawang to Jatimulya. I hope they can fix it because the high speed train were not yet expanded towards city centre (even though they already talk about the possible expand to connect city centre and Soetta Airport, but i doubt they will prioritize that over extension line from Tegalluar-Surabaya first)

As of recently, you can use Flazz/TapCash and such for the airport train. Only one gate per station, not well signposted, kind of wonky not giving me confidence it'll works every time (making me miss the flight!), but kind of possible.

myself who is a frequent user for Transjakarta, KRL, and MRT says it's mostly accurate. Even tho the LRT is mostly new to the transit system of jakarta it's usually not that useful for me in terms of price due to the fact it being slightly more expensive compared to MRT or KRL Commuter line depending on how far do you want to go from one LRT station to another. Though it gives us access to the recently opened KCIC (Kereta Cepat Indonesia Cina) I just don't find it that useful for a daily commute for now.
