By all means nobody is discouraging you from visiting Indonesia, but don't expect a fresh clean air and friendly UV light / sunray when it comes about Jakarta (and so does many central & bustling cities in various countries, but this one is definitely a different case) I do recommend you visit cities & regions in mountainous / eastern area like Bogor & Bandung, if the equivalent of walking in an air-polluted beach on a hot summer day isn't your plate of souffle.
