On today’s podcast I welcome Jake Bush to the show. In this episode, Jake and I discuss what it has been like to become a more recognized name and face in the outdoor industry, Jake’s “top 5” area approach, trail camera strategy, the importance of well thought out access routes, and the pitfalls of assuming too much. This episode really highlights Jake’s process and approach to chasing mature public land bucks.

Field edges here are in the middle of the mountains because power lines thru the woods are our main edges. I hunt those edges that are littered with oaks.

Love the content! All I hunt with is my bow here in Harlan Ky where there’s big woods that are steep and thick, I have a saddle and love using it but it’s better to be on the ground here due to it being so thick and steep. I don’t think usual strategies or tactics would work well here.

Probably the best podcast content I've ever heard and I listen to hours of hunting podcasts every week. Regarding Jake's comment about deer hitting bears hard in the heat. Makes sense with all the water in a bean. They get their food and water at same time.

I got lucky and killed a main frame 8 point in a power line edge where he was bedding, he had food all around him and a waterhole less than a hundred yards from his bed. I set up on the ground with natural cover as a blind, twenty yards from his bed. I sat there for 12 straight hours waiting on him to move out of his bed far enough for me to get a good shot. I used the cheapest broadheads at Walmart also had arrows from there. My bow was a PSE Uprising and I still use it. I scout all year round, but it’s still hard to hunt these big mature bucks here with so much area to scout and fewer deer than most places. We need help here with managing deer turkey elk and other wildlife because nobody takes care of these WMA’s or any other public land! If you know anyone that can come to Harlan Ky to help with that problem send them this way.

Great content .. The big take away is paying attention to details, but don't be afraid to take chances. Really like the new visual part of the podcast. Nice "Buck wallpaper" you have there Jeremy.
