it is most appalachians are descended from the irish the dance is clogging which is derived from sean nos and namesake irish word for time (clog) music comes from irish music too

@@averagehum4n this is english clogdance. irish dance only started in the late 1800s. irish music only started in the early 60s when irish band the dubliners adopted the lively scottish style. sean nos is scottish for old ways. a dopted in ireland in the 1940s. clog just means a clump of wood in england. hence "clogs" wooden shoes.
