I love to watch this guy play at trucountry. He comes out and sings those good country songs. I like it when him and bobby Flores play together. I haven't seen Jake on trucountry in a while. I can tell that bobby Flores enjoys playing with Jake.

WOW .. What a powerful message , back in the mid 80's I had a similar experience so I know what Jake is talking about .. It's great to see somebody I'm a big fan of go through the same thing I did .. I asked Jesus to show himself to me when I was on the edge of death .. He showed himself and then he totally changed my life .. If you think your life is over and you need help.. ask Jesus and he will take good care of you.. What you have heard about is real . You just need to sincerely make the effort and he will be there for you no matter how far gone you think you are

I met Jake Hooker at London Hall in July of 2018. I only had a quick conversation with him, but could tell there was something about him. I could tell he had Jesus in his heart. I got to play a couple of songs with the boys, and it was GREAT! I wish Jake, his family and the boys the best of luck in all they do, and my God bless him, as He has certainly blessed me.

My moment of clarity came much like yours. I was in bed 34 years ago thinking knowing I was so drunk I couldn't help my grandparents next door if I had to. I got out of bed and got on my knees and asked a God I didn't know I had to relieve me of the need to drink. Give God a Gap if you want help.

Jake, thanks for sharing your story. I think it is special when a public figure like yourself shares their life battles. People seeing you onstage wouldn't think you could be having the same problems as they are. I spent much of my professional life as a Vice President of computer companies. But my problems were very similar to yours. Glad to say my solution came like yours. First time I saw you and your band perform was a few years ago when you played at the Blue Bonnet Festival in Burnet. I was "hooked" on Jake Hooker and his band. Thanks for staying true to "country music". I had been living in the Dallas area for most of my professional life and had just moved back to Burnet. I grew up here and decided to retire here. God Bless!

Oh, I KNOW your story very well brother < ...............I too played in Germany in the Army and here in El Paso Texas for 30+ years. We were doing COUNTRY music 6 nights a week for most of the mid-late 1980s then, and drinking EVERY night. The only night we had off was Monday night and GUESS where I was on a Monday night? Right there in the same Bar. I even got a single of mine on country radio , but still....something just wasnt RIGHT!! Then in 1987, while driving my car alone, .....to go to band rehearsal I heard a Voice say, IN MY CAR... "Today YOU will be SAVED". It scared me to death , I thought someone was IN my back seat! Ther WAS, it was Jesus. :) It wasnt 10 minutes later I saw a church steeple up ahead. I drove in and parked. I DO NOT KNOW WHY either! In a few minutes I was in a Church I had never even BEEN to, with a Man I had never even seen before and I was crying like a small baby ...as "George' led me in the Sinners Prayer. Brother, I was SO relieved, so Happy after that , I dont even remember walking outta that church. I surly FLOATED out to my car. LOL Thank you God, .......... I would have given UP on me, years ago, but YOU never did. I love You and I long to SEE your face Lord. :) Friends: I pray if you are 'missing' something in YOUR life, go somewhere, BE QUIET , RELAX and just listen. Then tell God how you feel. You will know a peace and love inside like you have never felt in your entire life. :) God bless you and Thank you for this video. :)

There is no story of redemption or transformation that's more or less valuable than the next. I love his story about how he put all of his hope in Jesus. Wouldn't matter to me if it was Shiva or Buddha or Allah. Actually, Jung thought we should embrace the myths of our culture because those are the archetypes that constitute our unconscious shadows. I digress... beautiful story of surrender and that is how it works in all cultures.
