Has Jake ever given away the sauce on that bass sound? Love that he said it’s just a single note and that he’s been using it for years but I need that shit 😭
@lowkeyloki88329 ай бұрын
I don't think he has. Him & Hi-Tek got the toughest bass patch in Hip-Hop in my opinion.
@Magnetic19089 ай бұрын
I think he showed the Scarbee bass in Kontakt if I’m not mistaken and his playing is simple but unique to his style. Marco Polo uses that too.
@kamerondavell9 ай бұрын
It’s so chunky pause
@who_is_dis9 ай бұрын
Didn't he just do it here? It's a one shot sample - idk if he recorded it. If he did, my guess would be a DI fender bass through a neve pre into some sort of compression > into some sort of EQ. Basically an analog channel strip. Then loading it into a sampler which would add slightly more tone/allow him to tweak it however.
@the44thfloorbeats9 ай бұрын
In one of his previous videos years ago he said it’s a stock asr-10 bass sound from a ensoniq floppy disk

"Pretty but not soft" is the best way to describe it. I would also describe "Gangsta Soul" records the same way. One of my favorite records from brent and it also reflected the hollow/isolated feelings of the time during the pandemic

Simply incredible. Whether it‘s his beats or his samples - they never have much more than 4-5 tracks, yet have so much depth. I mean how do you decide to put these instruments together in that specific way? Just crazy

This makes me excited for my future as an artist. EL-B talked about how you can create a groove with 3 layers. I think seasoned producers just know how to make magic out of simplicity.
