Can we talk about how unbelievably biased the commentators were towards jake? They were saying how “it’s a close fight so far” when tommy was winning literally majority of the rounds. Every given moment they were just bowing down to Jake whenever he threw a punch.

They said it mainly because of the knockdown. Jake would never win, but that knockdown could actually make the judges score a majority draw. I still think it should’ve been an unanimous decision for Tommy but i can see and understand the majority draw or the split decision

I think Wade is even being a bit too nice, Jake barely put up a fight objectively speaking like without the point deductions and the flukey knockdown Tommy arguably won every single round. Jake got absolutely schooled and dominated in every facet. It wasn't close and was never close. @@YousufS16 Jake is either about to hit his ceiling or he already has and that is clear if you rewatch his last three fights. He still makes a lot of the same mistakes and his performances look almost identical. If they run it back within the next 3-6 months, there won’t be much of a difference. Also, keep in mind that Tommy is also a novice pro with lots of room for improvement. As his trainer revealed in an interview yesterday, Tommy hasn’t really had a gym or a trainer of his own since he trained with Ricky Hatton in 2018/2019. Since then, it’s just been John Fury and they sometimes use Tyson’s gym to train. Now, Tommy has a trainer in Alex Matvienko and a gym with Elite Boxing Gym so he can actually train a lot more than he was before. I think they will both make adjustments for the rematch but I don’t think Jake has too much room for improvement and I believe the result will be the same mostly due to the fact that there is a bit of an experience gap between him and Tommy. Even though Jake has more main event experience and more total rounds, Tommy has more boxing knowledge and that showed in their fight.

If you’ve ever box before, which I have 18 years. If you fight lesser opponents you can play around you can move better you can punch better. Jake Paul has been fighting old men. Of course he can jump around move his feet better punch better. Once he got in there with the real boxer, he couldn’t do that because every time he tried it he got hit. That’s why you’re a little perplexed. He actually thought a real boxer he’s not as good as he thinks he was.

I think it was pretty clear him not coming out a locker room and wardrobe malfunction was a sign that he wasn't in the right mind state. He fell for traps, Didn't have the cardio to keep up with a high volume puncher, Was over relying on power shots, Didn't have an answer for Tommy's jab, Would either body hunt or head hunt and became predictable, etc.
@mikerelva6915

That was really fascinating. When there was first a delay, it seemed like Jake was playing mind games. But then they put the cameras in the back room, and Jake seemed totally discombobulated, and then when you saw his face it looked like he was disorientated and also terrified. That was the first time I've seen him look like that, he just did not look very good and after the fight he did say that he felt out of it and had weird energy levels. I think maybe it all got to him, and he realized that he was going out there to face a real boxer, this was no basic Tyrone woodley, or pillow fisted Anderson Silva who doesn't use any offense. At the end of the day, Jake was lucky to even win around here call me out landed him in every single round, even though it landed him by 20% in the third round which most people gave Paul

Tommy’s footwork, hand speed, combinations, feints, & jab impressed me. I respect Jake for fighting someone with the experience/background Tommy has but tommy won clearly despite the knockdown in the 8th. He looked like he was struggling to find his range & I think Tommy’s jab did a good job at neutralizing his offense for the majority of the fight(definitely think Jake would have more success if he used his left hook more since Tommy rarely had his right hand up to protect his chin when he jabbed). Jake telegraphs his overhand right A LOT and I think he was being over-reliant on it in the later rounds. As much as people say JJ is over reliant on the overhand Jake is just as if not more reliant on his imo.

Non boxing fans thinking a knockout is the only real win in boxing. All they’ve heard about is Deontay Wilder and Mike Tyson and think their KO stats are ”standard”. Deontay hype really brought new fans to boxing who think a knockout is the end goal in a boxing match and then boxing quickly turns into a brawl.. Knockout isn’t the goal, the goal is to hit without being hit and Tommy executed that fairly well throughout the match. Still he also showed he can take that right hand of Jakes if need be😂

1. Tommy looked better than all his previous fights combined. So they were trashing him based on what he had shown (which was poor boxing). 2. Jake was the favorite mostly because of hype, knockdowns/knockouts, and because Tommy had fought only nobodies. Jake had fought big names (even though they weren't crazy good, they were still big names). 3. Tommy was the one saying Jake will see what true boxing looks like, and that he will absolutely destroy him. He didn't show that. Based on Tommy's words alone, he came short. According to Tommy, Jake should've been getting man handled like no other. Jake lost, but it was competitive. Tommy isn't as good as he said, and this showed that Jake is right up there with "real boxers" due to him giving more of a fight to Tommy than Tommy's previous opponents. 4. Tommy is getting his credit, but again, due to him being a Fury, and being the "pro boxer fighting a youtube fake boxer", it isn't as impressive as it should've been. To sum it up, Jake lost, Tommy won. No arguing that. But if anything, this fight showed that Jake CAN hang with real boxers, and likely beat a lot of them in the lower ranks. Tommy should have obliterated him, but he didn't. He just won.

Jake needs to have more punches to throw. I mean the left hook and overhead right are nice, but he needs to also use the uppercut, many moments in the fight Tommy ducked and was open for an uppercut. Tommy did hit jake with and uppercut and it almost shocked jake. And like wade said he needs to double up on his jab and throw more punches.

Thank you Wade, for being honest that the quote 'split decision' was... politely, a trash call. I believe Tommy would win an immediate rematch and I believe he'd win in it in better fashion than this 1st fight. People all forgot or didn't care to look at this way - Tommy is 23. This was his NINTH fight. Dude is just starting his career. Not too many people who could've stood on all the pressure that Tommy stood on and even less could've done it and won. 🤘

I don't think it's the end of Jake's boxing. I think this is the exact wake up call he needed because he can't rely on the tactics he used in this fight. He needs much more movement, he barely moved this fight, he needs to utilize the jab much more and in many different ways, he needs to use combinations. Not just this one punch restart, again thing. He needs to not head hunt. He needs to go to the body in different ways and utilize shifts while he is moving in and out of range, and then move those attacks to diverse level's with movement shifting with balance and putting in torque into his shot's (like Inoue does) lastly they gotta stop clinching and misjudged how to handle distance for a majority of the fight. It keeps momentum from occuring and Jake from flourishing. He has potential to improve. It's crazy he's gotten this good this quick anyways so if he can improve anymore, then it would be impressive. So let's see what/if Jake can learn from this loss.

Great night! Tommy outboxes Jake, he wasn't bothered by his "power". We just dropped a rap breaking down the fight 🔥🥊🔥🥊🔥🥊🔥 Jake loses a rematch; slip, pressure, first main event & baby made this seem competitive. Tommy rolls up to a rematch composed, confident, knows what to expect from Jake; he cruises to victory. Jake rolls up to a rematch knowing Tommy can take his best punches, knowing he can handle the pressure well, knowing he can work at a higher pace for 8 rounds. All the reasons Jake said he could win were wrong; he's years of practice behind Tommy.

According to the Compubox stats from the fight, Fury hit Paul almost twice as much over eight rounds. There wasn’t a single round where Fury hit Paul less than Paul hit Fury. The fourth round was the biggest blowout for Fury: he hit Paul 13 times, while Paul only managed to land two strikes.

I honestly think that Jake can come off this loss and be much much better then anyone thinks he can, I said during the fight that he needed to throw more combos and really work his jab and get into range, I think if Jake can work on getting in close to tommy and really letting him have it right in his face it could be a much different fight because tommy like Jake until now, hasn’t had to deal with pressure
@justicebolt5293
@justicebolt5293 Жыл бұрын
I would agree with you… if Tommy maximum potential was reached. But it is clearly not and Tommy last fight before fighting Jake is so long ago. Clearly Tommy potential is higher, he has much more speed than Jake,his footwork,head movement is on point and his jab is crazy good. Jake don’t move his head and body enough to stand a chance on a rematch against an improved version of the Tommy we saw on the last fight.
@skyflipz7642
@skyflipz7642 Жыл бұрын
@@justicebolt5293 he’s also more experienced which I understand, but as good as Jake is for as new as he is has the opportunity to develop just as quick as we’ve seen, and coming off a loss really does put a spark under your ass too, I definitely think Jake should’ve fought someone maybe easier to understand what a pro boxer is going to bring but I wouldn’t mind them running it back, I definitely think it could be much more competitive

That's the main reason why I think ksi is better because he is constantly learning more and trying more so he can reach into his bag and be able to show a variety of abilities like with the mvp bounce which if you think about is very impressive that he was able to learn a new style and execute it very well.
