I love this guy......it is so funny to see devs stepping out of their ivory towers and doing something hilarious. He just cracks me up and I love watching videos with him. I doubt this gem will be a blockbuster success but I hope we can send him a message that we love what he is doing and to please keep up the good work.

Original X-COM was (and sort of still is) the best game I've ever played. I still play it thanks to Steam, and replayed it within the past year. There aren't that many 18 year old games that people still talk about and still play. I'm getting my hopes up too much, but this new one looks to be the closest to capturing the gameplay of the original while giving it a 2012 update. Pre-ordered!!

It is surprise to see so much old gamers still remember X-Com after all these years. It is almost feel like this is an old folks game and it makes the feel like the old timers are coming back with bald head, big tummy, wearing glasses or casual wear and finally carrying a plasma gun then say...' lets kick some alien ass'.

Did you ever see the trailers for the XCOM game? It was a shooter with a cool 1950s motif, now they made it into a 'future warfare' game. They sucked the soul out of it.

To be fair it is one of the finest strategy games ever made. Besides a couple of flaws in the original (not being able to open doors before walking right in and getting shot by an alien, et al.) it's a fantastic strategy, management game that is unforgivingly hard. I'll admit, i've ragequit XCom: UFO Defense more than a couple of times in the last few weeks because sectoids have killed my fully armoured out squaddies through some stroke of bad luck. But you always go back to xcom. Always.

Chances are the command setup is heavily simplified in comparison to the original X-Com... Limited buttons on the controller and whatnot. I'm just hoping they don't give us a poor console port for the PC. Could be good though.

Seeing the comments on Kotaku shows me how much the gaming masses just are robots who play the popular titles and are afraid to try something different and that kicks their butts. I know strategy titles aren't for everyone but I think if more people would give this a chance it would sell them on it. BUY XCOM! Also they should have had a demo on xbox so i could direct my console buddies to a demo before it comes out.

Not so much, but he does have a point. I play all platforms and Xbox was my go to platform for a good 5 years or so but most of the gamers just want more Call Of Duty and more Halo and Gears etc, which can be all well and good but it just gets boring and samey after a while. Sure there are great games on consoles that aren't shooters but it is sorely lacking in the strategy department, which is a shame.
