People with a stutter struggle with certain words and when they feel a stutter coming they will try to change the words they’re about to say cause they are taught you use an expanded vocabulary to help diminish the stutter but by thinking what words to use it causes a pause in their sentences.

This! It's not easy to just spontaneously use a different word in the middle of a sentence, you often have to re-structure the entire sentence in order to make the word fit in properly. And doing that in front of countless of people while probably feeling pressured and stressed (which increases stuttering) makes it even more difficult. As someone who stutters I'm actually surprised how well Biden manages around it. Being able to do that is as far from cognitive decline as one can get

@@min_nad yeah it sucks, we the stutters can’t read everything out loud since we have to add/subtract the words from it. For example, if we have to say “I’m going to have a big dinner with my family.” We the stutters have to rephrase the sentence so we don’t stutter much when we say it. We might say “I’m going with my family to have a big dinner.” Or when we nervous and can’t talk, we just say “Dinner with my family that I’m going.” It’s just an example that we have to go through everyday :(

I can't definitively say she knew he had a stutter but it's unlikely she was truly unaware. Regardless, instead of owning up to it, she just deflected that she implied a cognitive decline. Why? What does she know? If she is going to be so concerned about him (she wasn't) then why not be more concerned for her FiL who potentially has cognitive decline if we're going to be talking about older people.
