What I love about this style of playing is that it is not fast (or demanding) for the sake of sport but also looks out for a good tone and end result. Also in Germany st Anne's reel was adopted into a children song about 'grandma riding a motorbike in the chickencage'. Lol

WHAT ??? With a comparison like that, I dare say that you don't play. Combine the flare of an enthusiastic air-guitarist with a 20th percentile guitarist, and you have Billy Springs. I am not discrediting the value of showmanship or passion, but contest judges would not be so easily fooled.

What do you mean by "in regular tuning" He is either Standard tuning or maybe Drop D and I only mean single Drop D as in DAGBDE, this is by the rules of the competition itself. So other than having a slightly (1 whole step) deeper range on a single string, he's playing it standard.

I am glad that I didn't have to face him last year. I would have been slaughtered. Last year a Daniel Wheeler won and you talk about PLAYING A GUITAR!!! I only managed to get 4th, unfortunately. It was a nice guitar they were giving away, too. A Jeff Robertson custom made Adi top, forward shifted scalloped bracing and mahogany back and sides. She was a beaut!!!

I love the music but it’s true and we should all be cognizant of that. This style is mostly 16th notes and it sounds fantastic when done properly. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves and pretend it’s something it’s not. There’s other music for that. In fact there’s music for everything whether you want to be deeply immersed or simply entertained. No one is above the other they thankfully exist just the same.
