Have you ever noticed that any time you accomplish a goal, the satisfaction doesn't last and you're already chasing after a new goal? What happens if you achieve all of your dreams? Then what do you do?

I was thinking exactly this following your dreams is the process. It's the whole period of fiddling around with the UFO puzzle. Achieving your dream is the moment you solve that UFO puzzle and it becomes nothing more than a hunk of metal. That's why it's important to set your dreams on things that don't have some concrete end but is a process.

I remember when I was in elementary school I never realized how happy I was and how good everything was all I wanted was to get to middle school because I though that would make me happier when I reached middle school I realized how happy I was when I was in elementary school and that middle school sucks so I wanted to get to high school because I thought that would make me happier but when I reached high school I didnt realize how good middle school was . Now I know I have to appreciate the times now because worse in gonna come but I just cant appreciate what is happening now because I don't know what the future is going to be like but I know its gonna be worse Srry for the long comment

Sad that u can’t live in the moment when u try to learn from the past or plan for the future. Cause thats nothing more than leaving the moment..being councious and fully aware of what is happening in u and in this moment is living in the moment. Cause that’s the key to accept it and find peace. Thinking in past and future on the other hand is just a try to change the moment, in other words ur denying reality which makes transient pain to permanent suffering. So ye I also love the middle-part of ur philosophy, but the other 2 just gave me depression...so stay councious. Peace ✌️

Those are three contradictory statements, woudlnt each action you do exist on a spectrum between these three ideas therefore a better philsosphy would be working out which situations would depend more heavily on which idea and to what extent?

Art with Mo well, true if you learn from the past, you will keep on thinking about the past and regret and if you are planning for the future then you will be always worried and stress out what’s to come! It’s better to only think about present! There won’t be any regrets or stress! Be in the present to enjoy life with no regrets and stress!

"once i achieved every goal i've been thriving for, then what happens next?" my anxiety for the future has rooted from this question ever since i asked this myself. like, perceiving your dreams and the future this way made it seem that life is pointless if that's the case. but then i figured, we shouldn't let our ambitions and the future itself consume us, we shouldn't live for what's not here yet. instead, live now, as in right at this very moment and make the best out of it or let the moment make the best out of you. seize the day or let the day seize you. i haven't gotten my life together nor making the best out of it yet but this is what i'm trying to hold onto. indeed, this moment is all that we really have.

In everything in life we find that it’s the process and the journey that brings us joy more than the actual destination. The journey to the end of the rainbow is much more exciting when you reach the end because of the unknown factor that achievement waits. Even though we may not know what it may be, we still have fun striving for it because it makes us happy knowing we are making progress towards something. It’s the moments where we focus too much on what’s at the end of the rainbow and what might be waiting for us at the end, is what fails us prematurely because we are focused on an unknown outcome. As humans, We fear the unknown, and also that which we don’t understand . That brings a certain fear, but also a spark of excitement as well. It’s all about tapping into that fear and facing it head on, having faith with optimism that whatever is to come, i’m ready for it. Idk what it is but i’m ready. You’ve worked so hard to get on the mountain, for a second just be on the mountain and enjoy it.

"it was true that the "process" to achieve something is the thing we all want to experience.... achievement / goal itself is not feally that fulfilling". i just realized thats why i want to buy / play the game in the first place , to seek enjoy in process and challenge when you go through the process, its the achievement / goal feels so good! and also you can share the story to others bout the process!

Although this video is well done and edited the concept is misleading. The whole point of living happily it to have a goal. Your dream might be to be healthier and happier in life. Although reaching this goal is the hardest but most satisfying part of the process. Some dreams once achieved can still grant happiness soon achhcieving it such as being healthier or staying fit. This gives you a healthier lifestyle that’s been proven to make you happier. As to when you achieve your dream you would have learnt new things and come upon new experienced as where you will ask yourself questions regarding this situation and say, how can I do this or that. My point being once you have achieved your dream you can create another one. Also many people create smaller goals for their main Dream this grand satisfaction more commonly. I had to say this yes it’s quarantine and I’m bored asf

Actually, this is why I *don't* do religion. Isnt it still just looking ahead? To the afterlife, to 'real paradise'? It kinda discounts yknow, our entire lives. It's trying to live your life in a way that you think is noble, and I respect that. But at the same time, you're still just looking ahead. I've heard this sentiment echoed many different ways many times- 'Heaven is true paradise. Life is just a test.' Like, you exist for no reason other than to pass or fail the test. And you're still just lookin ahead, waiting for true happiness. For paradise. I dunno I just cant live like that. My life is mine to do with what I want with. It's no test to pass or fail. The real test, if anything, is to learn the live in the moment. To make myself happy. I dont think we exist for any purpose. I dont think we were put on this earth. I think the universe is random and apathetic and at times cruel. But it's also beautiful to think that in all the randomness *we* get to live. That in all the randomness there's equal parts beauty and pain. Yeah I dunno sorry if that was really pretentious lol I just like discussing things like this :))

Lionheart Sure, I understand where you’re coming from as well because I used to think like that also. I respect your decision, I’m doing my job as a believer. I think because nobody knows what happens after death, that we should believe in something rather than nothing and not giving yourself any hope for the possible afterlife. It’s a 50/50 kinda thing. Hope this makes sense? :)

Probably change the title, dreams don’t solve all your problems. Following my dreams would in serious make me happy so have to disagree. After succeeding in them I would follow my huge list of things I want to do. Its never ending the beauty in life is there is always more to do. Following what you love does make u happy.

The only way you’ll ever find true satisfaction is if you give up your life to Jesus Christ by becoming Born Again. You must repent (say your sorry and turn away from your sin) and then put your full trust in Jesus Christ. Don’t trust in yourself guys. “So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’” ‭‭John‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I agree. Start with Where You Are. Figure out what you want to do right now. Not in the future. But right now. If you want to do landscape photography. Go through all the stuff you have right now in without buying anything new. Pull out a bag or backpack and a tripod or monopod and something that takes pictures. Pretend that you just got a phone call from the government that says we need you to leave in 15 minutes to go photograph this alien artifact because you're the closest one nearby and the computer says based upon your Instagram photos that you're the one we need to do this. Just grab together stuff that you have. And go somewhere near you and start doing photography. Even if it's the trash dumpster behind the drug store down the street. Someday you're going to have the opportunity to photograph a Lamborghini or a Ferrari or the Louvre or a famous mountain. But today. Take a photograph of a dumpster. Or somebody's car that you know. Somebody's house that you know. The tallest building in your town. Because. It's about moving forward. It's about getting ready. And you're not going to know the stuff that you need to buy or borrow or trade to make the photograph you someday are going to make without experimenting now with what you have. Consider photographing the tallest building or the biggest building or the most historically significant building in your city every single Sunday or Saturday morning for the entire summer. Imagine. Your Instagram. With 12 photographs of that building or monument or bridge. Where every picture is different. I can tell you what's going to happen. The first 4 or 5 or 6 times you photograph the same thing. They're awful. Their standard. Boring. Then the 7th or 8th or 9th Time. You say. Forget this. I'm going to photograph from over there. Or I'm going to photograph low. Or I'm going to go up on that maintenance shed over there. Or hey here comes my friend who skateboards I'm going to take a photograph of him skateboarding in front of this thing. And suddenly. You've got a great photograph. That's what teachers in music and photography and art schools try and make happen. They try and throw students into a bunch of very, very standard different boring usual typical situations. Hoping that one day. One of those students. Is going to pick. A different angle. A different lens. A different brush. A different color. A different rhythm. A different chord progression. And suddenly. Make something that hasn't been made before. I'm sorry I feel like I've written too much and maybe what I've said hasn't helped at all. I'm sorry if I wasted your time. I just started talking and that's what came out.

But this moment isn't all that we have. We may have tomorrow and the next day, and next year, and next two years... Pursuing a high attaining goal is what gives life it's meaning, and meaning is the only justification to the suffering of life. Each goal comes with it sub-goals.. it's a process and not a destination. Obviously the reward from achieving a goal is only short lived. You want to be constantly improving, otherwise you're just going to fall backwards. Seeking pleasure moment to moment is just a hedonistic illusion when you don't have a direction in life. The message of this video is wrong. "following your dreams won't make you happy" is erroneous. It should instead be titled "Having a negative mindset won't make you happy." and that's nothing new.

This is a terrible concept to be honest. Everyone should pursue whatever they want. The pursuit brings happiness, and the achievement brings a sense of accomplishment. The journey and the moments we have can be enjoyed all the same w/o sacrificing a long awaited accomplishment.

Before watching I just want to say that, my goals are completely separate than my dreams, I see at my goals as the stepping stones that lead me towards my dreams. But it never stops, there is alo something to achieve I guess. After watching this, I totally agree, this moment is really all that we have, and even though I'm struggling with depression, I can't help but find happiness in small things, like eating my favourite dish *shahi paneer* at home. :)
