This is absolutely THE 5th Gen Explorer to buy, BUT you'll want to avoid the 2013-15 models if you can, because the 1st-Gen EcoBoosts are known to have timing chain issues, which were resolved for the 2016 model year with the 2nd-Gen EcoBoosts. 2016-18 models are your best bet. Still, you can't beat the looks of the Sport model, as they definitely make it stand out over your Run-of-the-Mill Explorer XLT or Limited.

Ford should not have put a third row of seats in the back, ppl need that space flat and it doesn't fold down completely . I owned the 2001 Explorer Sport, it was a great SUV.
