Also, Selecting a note(s) and Shift + Opt + (Up and Down Arrow Keys) moves the midi up or down an octave.

just curious is there a way you could assign these arrows to velocities? what is your personal approach
@JakeMasca7 жыл бұрын
Haven't found a way to assign the arrows to velocities. But I highlight all my midi, and press CMD+Y to open up the velocity or midi channel editor. If you hold command and drag, you can create a "crescendo" effect via velocity for the midi notes. In a practical application however, I actually just randomize the velocities a bit every time im finalizing my songs

i see. ok cuz i know that some users in cubase are able to assign those things easily. for editing drum velocities etc. im not sure how cubase is now. its been a while since i used it, but some people have mentioned that composers like it for its midi capability? not sure what they mean by that. anyway thanks!-

hi jake is it by default that when you hold option and left and right. it will nudge it? mine only works for up and down
@JakeMasca7 жыл бұрын
May be manual. Have you tried checking out the custom key commands? maybe type in the keyword "nudge" and find what you're looking for? Let me know if you resolved it

Hey Jake I'm a subscriber and starting to get back into Logic Pro X. I'm amazed at the speed you move around Logic and hope one day I'll get somewhere near that level. I'd like to know what you're using for your input device in terms of keyboard and mouse/trackpad. Also to learn hot key commands is there a list I can study and is there a technique of memorizing most of them?
@JakeMasca8 жыл бұрын
Hey man, Thanks for the compliment. Don't worry too much about being fast. Being comfortable is more important in my opinion. I tend to be comfortable when I know key commands. I use an arturia step keyboard occasionally - purely for testing out chords and melodies since i like the size of the keys. I use a regular keyboard and my built in trackpad along with an apple magic mouse. To learn hot key commands, I wouldn't recommend memorizing a list or anything. I suggest pressing "OPT+K" to open up the key commands then search the parameters you want to use like "automation" on the search bar. You'll get a good idea of whats available and what may be useful to you. I have probably only memorized less than 1/3 of the available key commands in logic. Do whats comfortable - I actually like the image of DRAGGING regions and seeing them connect rather than looping them. Thats just me. For anything that annoys you, get the key commands manually and turn it into something convenient and comfortable for you. Not sure if this makes sense but I hope some of it helps. Take care Ernesto!
