This movie was OUTSTANDING!!!! I've seen it twice and each time my mind was blown. I thank the hell outta the Chinese movie goers. It's all because of them that we get a Pacific Rim 2. Del Toro hit it out of the park and all of the people involved in this movie were amazing. I have no idea why more people aren't talking about this.

As much as I think Peter Jackson did an excellent job I really wish Guillermo Del Toro had done the Hobbit series. I was so excited when I found out he was doing it and very disappointed when he had to leave.

I agree, when I saw the trailer, all I could think, was: "Dear God, another superhero/transformers wannabe movie....I can't see another one of those." The market's been flooded with superhero movies and it just gets a little exhausting to see the same thing or a facet of the same theme over and over again. But then I saw the movie. You're right. It just came out at a less than opportune time and the people who put the trailer didn't take that into consideration.

I'm an American, and it's upsetting when American people don't like a movie because the main character or characters aren't Americans or the film takes place in a foreign country.

The best thing that describes this movie is a quote form is from Del Toro " Its a movie made by people who love monsters and robot movies for people who love monsters and robots movies" If someone who has not watched any gundam or mecha robot anime or movies/shows watches this AMAZING movie and does not like it its cause they were not a fan of the genre to begin with. They nailed this movie and its location, . it was refreshing to see humanity vs one nation.

They need to bring the multi-cultura aspect and foreign-faces/locations like in this film more often in future films because seriously, we need to be a global unit when there's a real apocalypse! lol Btw totally blown away by Elba's explanation on a powerful speech. Poor Charlie's expression though when Elba didn't choose him as his Jaegar partner. Overall enjoyable interview as expected from Jake :)

Perhaps your right but this idea of money made in American is more important than the rest of the world. This film is not a flop and is doing well around the world. The critics and the hype don't mean anything anymore.
@Ghostlyghostgamer11 жыл бұрын
What this movie was really about to me was bridging the gap between Japan and America - A more literal Pacific Rim, if you will. It was all about building a plot and a universe with inherent Japanese inspiration, but for an American audience, with an American style of moviemaking. That's what I really liked the most about this movie, it showed that America can handle giant mech armor fighting kaijus, its hows Japan we're READY for Attack on Titan, and Evangelion, and even Gundam.

Good interviewing style mate - I agree with the person below, over time through the interview I realized you actually had some really good questions. I can't stand all of the annoying, run of the mill "So did George Clooney prank you on set?" questions actors get asked in this sort of interview, so I really appreciate that you avoid the standardf questions at all costs. So, I've now subscribed.

i fuckin love del Toro, you dont find many directors that are so passionate about their movies, or are at least open about it.
@5RWill11 жыл бұрын
Loved the analog question. Shows Del Toro is an excellent director. So much of cinema is CGIed now a days it's sickening. Granted here we are talking about a CGI flick no less but it's awesome to see him implement old style tactics to instill realism, because it works.
