I love this cut. My grandma taught school & owned her salon so I grew up working in her salon. I attend Pivot Point/Masters later in life. I was preparing for finals when I had to separate for medical reasons and when I returned the school wasn’t able to start a class so the board took all my hours by the end of that year which wasn’t fair. I didn’t return due to the fact I’ll have start at the beginning and I’ve already spent $80,000.00 for school and I already know the information. I cut, color & perm hair for family members & friends. I truly love your technique, it reminds me of myself. Most schools are product pushers, Pivot Point teaches technique and as a artist I may so happy it’s the manner in which I learned. Bravo I’m truly a fan

Here’s some 💕: thank you for showing different tips & tricks for the amateur. I’ve been cutting my own hair for 40ish years w/ so so results. I’ve always wanted a wash & go shag. This is serendipitous finding someone like you who is funny & a helpful teacher who is willing to spill the beans on your craft plus with the shag coming back in vogue. I just tried your diy shag & it improved the look. It’s not there totally yet b/c there are parts of my hair that need to grow out. Again thank you!

this is exactly what I was looking for! I have very thick hair so I love how shags look on me, but I've also got a really stubborn widow's peak that gives me some great fringe volume with a side part (and looks weird with a middle part, lol). now I just gotta find out how to do this on myself 😂

Beautiful and informative. I would love to see more extremes...like a a shag from super short top to pretty long ends ...I like a radical approach...and you have given us some good cuts in this category. Thanks Jake 🙏🏼🌼🌸🌺🙏🏼

OMG! I just discovered your channel probably three days ago and I love it, I'm not a hairdresser I'm just having an urgen necessity to Learn about my own hair and how to treat it, but not from any one else but from a real professional like you, and I enjoy so much your tutorials and learning and laughing. A little bit of me is I grow up in my home country the Dominican Republic watching my aunt at her salón doing haircuts beautifully with the same passion as you, that's why since I watched the first video from your channel I subscribed when I usually don't do that. You are doing a awesome job and bringing all those things here makes me appreciate you. God bless you and your family.

Cool personalised tips. I actually applied some of them cutting my own shaggy style and love it! Apart from the fact of still not having access to hairdressers, honestly I probably won’t find the one who will be able to do this kind of style haircuts l, knowledgeable and professional and so I better try my best to learn on my hair lol It’s pretty amazing coz it’s reminds of one of my hairdresser I had in the past that I loved the style and professionalism but unfortunately we live in different countries right now but it’s cool to get the same taste with watching your videos. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼 So grateful 👌

Does this front layering technique work for longer hair? Also could you please explain how to use these front layers as a guide to cut layers in the rest of the hair (back)? Thanks for all your useful tips, from so many hairdressers on YT, you're the only one giving these original and useful tips for free... you're a life saver. And also very hot :)

Hi Jake! Ive been watching you awhile becoz Ive been wanting a shag cut. I had one when I was 14..i did myself..it was really shaggy but I loved it shoulder length. But now Im a silver haired 70 y/owith long hair..waist length. I cannot wear short hair. I have..in a pixie when i was about 20 and it looked cute then. I just watched this shag cut with a side part..but Im wondering..I wear bangs..I dont like my forehead to show..and dont like having o constantly move hair out of my eyes..if cut to the side. My natural part is on my right side. Im wanting the bangs shagged as well..i did it b4. But I need to find a stylist that can cut a REAL shag.. w my hair being long, parted..w bangs? How would you do that? I picture it in my mind..but explaining is well different! Please help??
@jodigurl72 Жыл бұрын
You could try short light baby bangs across the front and then have your sides feather out and down to shoulder length. That's what I'd do. Good luck.

SAME! I'm 59 and this is the style for me but been unable to find anybody who can actually do it without butchering the hell out of my hair ... I end up in "grow-out " mode for months. I too wear a part on my right but side bangs always fall forward on me as well and just don't look right unless I have a bit of straight/forward bangs. I usually do it myself but I am by no means a hairdresser so it ain't perfect. It can be done, I know, cuz I had a version of this about 15 years ago but that hairdresser is long gone and I've been on the hunt for a new one ever since. So frustrating, I don't believe I'm asking for anything super complicated.

I haven't cut my hair in a reeeally long time...and it's down to my butt and it's all preeettymuch one length and I am so dissatisfied and bored with it. I used to cut my own hair in high school. I would ALWAYS get compliments on my hair...my lions mane is important to me and it's a big part of my own self confidence and how I feel about myself physically. I need a hair cut...and I'm wanting to try to do it myself again. I can go get it fixed if I screw up but I'm hoping this video will help a bit. Just a suggestion...maybe slow down on the parts of the video where ur actually cutting the hair. Ps. Thank you SO MUCH for showing how to do it with a side part it seems like everyone does middle parts these days and I CANT part my hair in the middle. I have a very big forehead that goes far back on my head so when its parted in the middle it makes my face shape look HORRID!! Lol

I’ve watched several videos of this cut with only one question which I haven’t seen addressed. What kind of hair can that work with? Thin? Fine? WHAT? One size does not fit all, as the saying goes. Yes, the style is beautiful, now who can wear it??? What about older folk? What about fat necks? What is this style doing for folks with “flaws”? Models and mannequins are the beautiful people, lol, and they always rock the cut. I’ve just subscribed cuz I think you’ll get my drift.
@jodigurl72 Жыл бұрын
Anyone could wear this I'd say. Especially if you have a fat neck. The side layer's being long would help conceal the neck and make it appear skinnier. I'd just say if your hair is super thin and I mean like going bald in places, then you would have to strategize your layer's and the lengths. You would need to keep longer length around balding areas. But you could still blend those into your shorter layer's.
