Finally a Willow Guide :D I used to be a Wendy main, but after checking out Willow rework. I changed myself to main her instead. She feels like she has so much utility and power. Like fighting bosses is so much easier with Lunar Flame, all at the cost of you spending days on farming Ember from Killerbees. The only sad thing is Bernie not doing his job as a tank, and pretty much never fully aggroing bosses :(

for burning frenzy multiplayer your teammates can use Scalemail for fire immunity. it will also reapply pyro fire when they get hit, allowing less time wasted to cast combustion or flame cast. just a note.

wanda would probably combo nicely with willow, because with her allarming clock she can hit bosses on fire from far enough away where she herserf doesnt take the fire damage while the boss does

Time to correct jakey! Since thats my job on youtube :D you don't need individual fires anymore for burning item sanity The game takes into account how many items are in a stack for the individual sanity modifier for burning items individual burning items i think are also affected by how big the fire is The max is 10 x willows modifier. But things like rope end up being only 6 sanity a minute per rope. So there is some variance there That I havent really looked into lol. The spicy chili as well as all items that give the warm food buff are based when they are harvested from the crock pot. I havent really timed it on how fast it goes down but it does. And it also goes down faster if you put the item inside a fridge. You can refresh this by having multiple stacks of the crock pot dish and just separating one item from the stack and eating that one item. Chance for ignite is based on mob only a few mobs have a lower chance to ignite compared to base most notable is spider queen at 25% chance to ignite. The torch has a 100 percent chance while lighter has 50% While willows skill skill makes all these percents 100 regardless of mob. Firestaffs actually do more damage compared to torches but for some reason break with willow and do standard damage. Her multiplier doesn't apply to the bonus damage firestaffs provide. hence why they seem the same as the torches and lighter. Its nice to have the exact numbers for fire damage variance I did my whole fire video on guesses and trial and error so its nice to have that :D should have also done the fire variance for small medium and large fires on structures. too >:D Burning frenzy now applies to willows spells now too so combining them with warbis armor spiced food and frenzy are the only ways to up your damage of spells. Thats about all Ive seen. That really needed touching on for the guide. Here are some extra information you missed The fire damage provided really is not much Its mostly just the crowd control that fire provides that is really what helps willow. Using the fire damage skill though does increase the fire damage dps cap from 120dps to 180 dps Which could be useful If you create enough individual fires for a mob to stand on and just take the fire damage. Pretty dang good for the 2nd and third phases of bee queen. and just a personal note for showing ranges its better to use units since thats how its described in the code and each unit is equal to 1 wall placed.

Thanks for the individual fire stacks note! Didn't know about the harvesting deviation about crockpot dishes, interesting! Firestaves do the same burning damage as torches regardless of the character, this was made true since Willow skill tree, before then fire staves did do more burning damage than a torch! (Tested by setting the same pig man on fire with a torch then a fire staff as Wilson, Pigman took the same damage) Burning Frenzy always worked with her spells in the main branch iirc, just only the physical portion, not the planar portion, this is factored in to any calculations in the video already. It must have been some time after release maybe the shadow fire buff Cause I did do willows skill tree and the fire staff was still the same. Where it had boosted damage but it wasn't affect by willows burn damage. Now they just nerfed it for everyone. Granted its only like 50 more damage on big enemies. But It was something actually unique about the fire staff.

I think the burning frenzy benefit is more the defensive aspect on non bosses. Having them not being able to attack you is potentially huge depending on your situation. The problem is, outside of this reasoning it ends up just being more busy work for not much benefit

Lunar Fire: Damage in Area Combustion: Literally the same thing That's why I use lunar fire, it basically covers Willow with homing damage and against an enemy, instead of using two skills with the same proposal, of course some scenarios the lunar fire would be better but they are very specific

Love to see the less "optimal" characters recieve buffs, I remember when she was entirely unvialable, no bernie, constatnly insane, freezing, and existed pretty much solely to grief other players. It is kind of sad to see DST turn into less of a gruelling survival game though, and get easier, but that could just be a symptom of playing too much

Wow, I'm late to notice and report this thought. I think Burning Frenzy is meant for bosses, but it could also be meant to increase your strength when paired with Spontaneous Combustion on hoards of enemies. Something like a hound would normally take 5 attacks with a spear to take down, but with burning Frenzy, and on fire, it only takes 3 hits. You're also likely going to be fighting multiple hounds at once. That said, the fire panics them anyways, so their main use probably is just for boss DPS. Still, I guess there is a foot note there.

Fun fact: willow (pre-skill tree at least) was really nerfed only twice: where her fire imunity was briefly switched to resistence, and when her lighter got durability. Both things happened in the transition to dst. And then fire imunity was brought back. But willow still was way worse than in ds and dlc's. Why? Because fife was nerfed. It spread slower(which is good , for all but willow sanity stations) and you could not set things in your inventory on fire anymore.(this one sucks so hard for willow, because she loses free light source). Then in pure ds (no dlc's) fire would let you chop a tree in one swing of an axe , making willow the best woodgatherer by far. But as time went by , fire was nerfed , and willow needed buffs. And now willow is a mage. I still belive that these skills dont tie up into willow too well. Fire yes , fire good , but if willson would get willson beard magic and willson beard curse , to damage mobs overtime he would play the same as modern willow because now she barely uses her old kit(aside from majorly buffed bearny , but even he is now just another combat summon and not a way to farm nightmare fuel , nor a risk/reward minion needing you to be insane. Idk overall. There are like 5 utility skills in this tree , and thats no good. Woody got utility , wormwood got , willson pure utility boy , even wolfgang got more utility, how's that? Wigfrid got almost the same amount utility as willow! I dont get it.

Characters in DST are buffed as heck. I remember almost every single character got a major rework where they got an unique crafting tab and a lot of utilities. Then for Wilson, his rework was getting a perk tree instead. Now, the other characters are getting a perk tree on top of the buffs they got in their reworks. Making Wilson, who supposedly would be a baseline character in one of the weakest of them all. Everyone bring something to the table and their drawbacks are for the majority of time almost nonexistant. And Wilson brings nothing. Willow, for example, completely overahadows Wendy and Abigail right now.
