Great video and thanks for telling the complete story of the hunt, from arrival in Ulan Batar to camp life and culture. Hunting is so much more the journey than just a trophy at the end of the experience.... and great ram! Congrats.

Hey Mr. smith. I love your TV show and would love to see your trophy room lol. I absolutely love sheep hunting but know I will never pull a dall or bighorn tag. I’m currently saving for a stone sheep tag and was wondering if this argali was a draw in a tag lottery or if I could just buy one of the tags?
@JAlainSmith Жыл бұрын
You can buy an argali tag from an outfitter but I highly recommend robbing a bank first as they are expensive..LOL Follow me on Instagram or FaceBook and I post pics of the trophy room occasionally! Thanks for watching and good luck on the drawings

Isnt the marcopolo the biggest sheep ?
@martinstiastny76792 жыл бұрын
The Marco Polo may/can have long horn, but is not as big (body size) as an Altai Argali. Further, the horns of the Altai Argali are generally more massive. They have larger bases and carry the mass through the length of the horn. Marco Polo sheep are found, for the most part, are higher elevation.

Why did you regret not taking one of the other rams? Were they bigger than the one you eventually took? And if so any idea why your guides passed them up?

Yes we saw bigger ones, the guides were having internal fighting problems and the whole trip was a disaster but I ended up with a decent ram.

Awesome hunting. But there is one remark, it is maral not “red stag”.
@michaelgomez30442 жыл бұрын
The Maral is STILL a Red Deer subspecies. So as usual, Alain was correct. And how could he have a "tag" for the wrong species?
@talgat32492 жыл бұрын
@@michaelgomez3044 I am from Kazakhstan. And Altay devided among Russian, Mongolia and . For us is it has crucial defference among those types of deer. Because, there are main 3 species of the deer: #1 the biggest is Maral (weight- 200/300 kg.); #2 is Manchurian elk; #3 is red stag the smallest one (weight 120/160 kg.).And when a hunter buying the hunting license there is exactly written type of species to be harvested. Also the habitat area of those deers in South Siberia & Altay regions is different. You are rarely meet red stag in area of Alan's hunt. Finally, as any trophy hunter it is preferably indicate the the exact name of animal species.
