With stationary animals, I would have thought the shot placement would have been better! Especially with the good gear they are using and the wealth of hunting experience under the belt.

The shot on the lion was good. I watched it and it is perfect shot for the angle. The buff is like a tank. My ph friend last month had a bull take 5-6 in the heart and a total of 11 to get fully stopped. Mine took 11 hits at close range before the charge was over and it out for the count. 2-3 rounds is not uncommon.

@@cw6795 ag please chap. You can sugarcoat it anyway you like. It still remains the biggest load of BS to shoot cats, elephants and rhino. No hunting should ever be required to justify their existence. How many buffalo does this grandpa want to shoot - more than one seems like greed is kicking in and it’s no more for the trophy. Foreigners should just stay in their countries and leave Africas wildlife heritage alone.
@cw67953 жыл бұрын
@@ianburger344 I would ask you what you know about Africa and how wildlife is treated over there but you clearly have no clue and have probably never been over there. Cats, elephants and rhino are carefully regulated and areas where there are enough animals there is closely regulated hunting. Hunted rhinos are usually old non breeding males and are more often than not privately owned. Elephants are not in low numbers in some countries no matter what the anti's will tell you. In areas where there are enough or where there are human animal conflict they are hunted. No matter where it is it is well regulated. Cats are the same thing. I recently hunted a huge cattle ranch with tons of plains game and predators including brown hyena, cheetah and leopard. Guess what happens if they have nobody to hunt their animals. They have no reason to keep all of them around to compete with their cattle. My dollars went to keeping those animals alive. This is the same old story all across Africa. Check out Kenya where they banned hunting in the 70's. Their game animal populations are either stagnant or in decline and the have been for 40 years. This guy can shoot multiple buffalo because they have tons of them and know their quota. Do you think that the Africans will just let these animals be if nobody goes to hunt them? All elephants will be killed for meat and ivory, all rhinos for their horns, plains game will be shot or snared for bush meat, predators will be poisoned because they are dangerous and any lion bones will end up on the black market. I can tell you that most native Africans do not give a S**T about the animals. Did you know that there are more lions in areas open to hunting and probably the same with elephants? Did you know that most rhinos are privately owned by people who pay for their protection and breeding opportunities with hunting dollars from other species on their property? What exactly do you know about Africa? Please inform me. Animals whether you like it or have to pay their way. Get your way and watch them ALL die instead of just a few.

@@cw6795 I live in Africa and was born here. I hunt at least 4 times a year - started hunting when I was 6. I know enough to know that we as humans are taking away the animal’s habitat - they are not in “ours”, threatening our livelihoods as we try to make out...it is the complete opposite. We as humans are the REAL threat here. Why don’t we start eradicating the human population in the areas where wildlife are encroached? Now we say for the animal to survive, we must hunt it otherwise the brainless will kill it and that this approach is the only way to conserve it. I don’t and never will agree. It is a industry completely exploited by the foreign clients paying in Dollars, Euros and Pounds. The Safari Outfitters and PH’s are just riding the gravy train until there is no more. Very similar to Africa’s other resources like coal, gold and diamonds, hey even certain areas that once flourished with trees have been raped with not a single one standing. We keep on lying to ourselves while the money twists our moral and ethic values. That is the hardcore truth and deep inside you know it.

Using a .375 Ruger in order to be able to promote a certain brand of rifles is a “conservationist” (as you call yourself) unworthy. No wonder you had to put round after round in some of those buffaloes. I always liked your videos when you were shooting double rifles or at least .375H&H but this kind of commercially driven decisions is sad. Even with the lion that .375 Ruger was inadequate and forced you to take that ugly gut shot. Sad display, sir, very sad indeed
@JAlainSmith Жыл бұрын
I get to shoot any rifle brand and caliber I want. I love the performance of the 375 Ruger and have taken everything from elephant to lots of buff to brown bear with it and its done an outstanding job. The shot on the lion was a perfect quartering away shot and the bullet was lodged in his far shoulder under the skin. What more can you ask for? I gave him an insurance shot as I do with anything that does not fall over dead immediately. Nothing sad about any of it... Glad you like the my old trusty 375 HH but this Gunwerks one is doing a great job as well.

The revenue from hunting these magnificent animals build schools where there are none, and feeds countless poor,, including starving children, some of whom get protein once or twice time a month-if they are lucky. It also funds the protection of habitat, anti-poaching that is exterminating species, and ensures a healthy herd once genetics are passed. There is simply no other way to preserve habitat and wildlife except through well-regulated and sustainable-use hunting. You should try to learn a little bit more about it and see if, once informed, you still have a distaste for it.

I have been hunting all my life, and while I myself could not and would not shoot a lion or a leopard, I support Alain's right to make that choice for himself. These are free-range, wild animals, in a sustainable population. No difference between hunting them or a squirrel. Keep posting fantastic videos, Alain.

@@JAlainSmith I have a tough time giving a pass to people who thoughtlessly “hate” on the internet. I don’t care what the issue is, although this problem seems to be associated with the left side of the spectrum. Can’t we have reasoned discussions about issues that make us all feel strongly? Years ago I was on a train from London to Glasgow, and I spent a fair amount of time in the snack and drink car. We were all chatting amiably amongst ourselves when someone pointed out a dead fox lying by the track, hit by a train. The one stewardess or whatever the train attendants are called said she strongly opposed fox hunting. “Why?” I asked her. “Because I feel so strongly for the foxes,” she said. And she would have no more discussion about it. That’s not healthy
