Brunson definitely all-star material. I mean he's not as flashy as some other point guards but he has the whole package. Scrappy on defense with the steals, wet jumper, can attack the rim, float game, his handle is definitely better than most, this is the kind of PG the Knicks have been searching for, for decades. He's just a gamer. Simple as that.
@stefanzlatanovic7521
@stefanzlatanovic7521 9 ай бұрын
Why are people across the ocean so obsessed over the All Star material thing? Wiggins was an All Star, dude is now trash. It would have much more sense to use name like Playoff material, or something else. Not hating just overall curious. Being an All Star like Doncic and Jokic who don't give a shit about that game and they dominate the league every single game. Brunson is just in a really position to be in the Playoffs and show off his true quality. He has the whole package, offense and defense. Truly impressed by him.

I come back to this highlight video often. This 50 ball happened during the last little stretch of Knicks basketball where there was *still* somehow an unclear pecking order between Randle and him. To the point that there were nights where that unclear pecking order cost them wins, especially late in games where the ball wasn't in Brunson's hands consistently down the stretch. Randle is an all-nba player, so I'm not trying to say he's bad or shouldn't have gotten significant touches. But, it became clear to me and most Knicks fans that Brunson was the de facto best player on the team during his first season in a Knicks jersey, and it wasn't particularly close (especially in the playoffs). But, despite that, because Randle still had those all-star and all-nba selections, there was never a clear "ok, it's Brunson's team now" moment, until Randle got hurt. That lead the team to be up and down based on whether or not the team operated like Brunson was the first option or Randle was the first option. The fact that he put up this 50 ball in spite of that, with the hindsight of knowing he'd later put up 61 as the uncontested first option when Randle went out for the season, scoring most of his points within the arc, it just speaks to how much not playing through him like the first option he is actually held him and the team back. I don't always agree with "the cream always rises to the top" mantra in the NBA. But, this game was the clearest case of that I've ever seen. Hopefully Randle understands that settling into the 2nd star role next season doesn't have to be a demotion. He could easily average something like an 18-10-10 triple-double with the gravity he draws, even as the second option. Hoping for that so we can extend him and cement a consistent roster for the next four to five years. Let's go Knicks!!!!
