A year ago this would have been a bad game for Jalen. He is figuring out how to find his game on an off night. Like you said he still has work to do developing his skills but his number one problem is consistency, and I think this game shows he's making progress on that front. I don't think Jalen put on much more muscle so physical play is always going to be an issue but he can learn to deal with it over time.

for Jalen's size and frame he actually has been the most reliable player on the team, Ime mentioned that he has not missed a game since he has been the head coach.

He thinks he is alone on the court. Does forget passing the ball to the mates. He runs into the opponent defense and loses the ball.. 7 turnovers... So bad. At one point he was turning the ball over one after the other where Fred took charge of the play making in the end.

Difference with Jalen and other guards is that other guards get their calls, he is 10th in FTs at his position. It is never a one on one with Jalen, he is getting doubled and tripled late in the game and even FVV gets doubled and worked with the same results. With Amen starting to put pressure on defenses as well it will help free up the guards late in games. I would critique Jalen in being a little quicker in setting up the play and not allow the defense to setup against him in the pick n roll. His first step and slashing is wonderful, especially when no one has pulled their defender into the lane but will still crash a board like Amen.

Madison hit it on the nail, if I was scouting against Rockets, I would be extra physical with JG. It’s obvious. Rocket’s trainers should be held accountable for Jalen’s lack of physicality. Take a page out of Kobe’s book. He would force the trainers to foul him during his training. And if they didn’t, he would get mad because he knew that’s how other defenders were going to play him. We have absolute studs on the defensive end: Amen, Brooks, Tari and Fred. They need to spend more time trapping Jalen so that he can get used to the speed and physicality of aggressive defense. I trust Jalen. He’s been proving his growth over time. I think he can figure this one out too

Agree. Keep Tate and Aaron. They’re good vets. Shouldn’t cost too much. There’s only 3 spots that can improve. Adams, Jock, Jeff. Adams is playing better so it might just be 2 positions. Depth is key in such a long season. Don’t want to be top heavy. Don’t want to get to a point where you can only add via vet minimums. Might be smarter to just keep the picks and draft the player.

Yeah I'd rather keep the picks and draft for depth and maybe upside if it comes. I could see us getting a nice young rim protector next year with that PHX pick. If anything trade away 2nds to get some depth now but I'd like to see the Rockets hang onto their firsts.

Udoka's way of minutes distribution is kind of weird too.. For example, Alp scores a few points, then he usually sits him with 3-4 minutes left to the end of 1st quarters.. Then he comes back only around 7 or 8 minutes left for the first half to end.. After sitting for so long, he comes back cold..

That is literally a normal substitution pattern for a star player to rest at the end of the first and then come back with 7-8 minutes in the second. James Harden, in his PRIME, had a similar substitution pattern.
