He just tried to cover up the fact that he just called Jalen hurts stupid but yet in the Ravens game I watched him read a defense audible out of a play multiple times to get a drive to work because original plays wasn't working😂😂😂😂

Like the other team doesn't have a defense. If your 1st read is open, then why not throw it? And if you have Saquon, then why not run it?
@IanMnflАй бұрын
Never called him stupid, he's asked to do a job and he executes what he's coached to do, and every quarterback should/does make man and zone checks...

He used only footage of 1 game also. I do know there have been complaints of Hurts not going off his first read which tends to not see wide open players, or reading too long and getting sacked. I think if that is what is being asked its also probably the reason why he has not turned the ball over as much as he was doing in the first month of the season, taking the safe plays but I do fear when we get in the red zone in obvious passing situations if we can score TDs instead of settling for FGs and relying on our D which has worked out mostly so far.
@fifis677Ай бұрын
No matter who the quarterback is, you never want the ball in the air if you can help it (that is, if you plan on winning). It's not about Jalen Hurts, it's about winning.
@IanMnflАй бұрын
You win by scoring points. Passing the ball effectively in the redzone helps scores points. Sometimes, passing the ball can be the difference between 3 and 7 points, and help you WIN games.
@fifis677Ай бұрын
@@IanMnfl It can help you win games, but it also puts the ball in more danger than it needs to be in.
@ChaseFoxyАй бұрын
This only works if you have a dominant run game. The Eagles do, so it makes sense to limit the passing.

I don’t really understand why an offense being “simple” to read is an issue. I enjoyed this video. But I think the “continuity “ aspect of football is not given enough credence. Tom Brady said being in the same system for 20 years allowed him to actually focus on breaking down the defense. Hurts is on his 3rd OC in as many years. His year 1 to year 2 jump under Shane Steichen was evidence enough for me. Keep up the good content. Will be tuned in for more
@IanMnflАй бұрын
Really appreciate the nice comment! I didn't mean to be negative really, I was just showing that Jalen does less than the general consensus might think in an offense that's simple.. YET VERY EFFECTIVE. At the end, I mentioned the team playing well and the scheme works because of the players' talent level AND THE CONTINUITY!
@jamessomersonАй бұрын
Okay... The Eagles invested HEAVILY... in a top tier rusher... the have an offensive line that is specifically designed to create holes in the running game (not nearly as good at pass protection), and have developed a system that creates confusion regarding where the run will be coming from (Saquon or Jalen himself). In reality, the passing game is being used to back the secondary up and give these rushing lanes greater depth, and more room to develop... Why the heck wouldn't they use what they have to be successful? It is all by design in the first place!!!

Hurts is a dawg and I see him constantly effect the game and make big time plays. we haven’t had to rely on him gunning it because we are so dominant on the ground and usually play with a lead in the second half of games. when the time comes to where he has to carry us (and it will) i have no doubt in my mind he will be dominant. hate that people act like he and us as a team are only winning because of saquon. saquon definitely helps but jalen was winning and carrying us years before this one.
@parththakker7155Ай бұрын
I don't really agree with a lot of these takes for the simple reason that the choices he makes and the coaching makes is more than just "look at half the field high low read" it's also about their roster, the opponents roster, what the opponents line up in, what they are showing, etc. The routes on the other side also did have value but when the defense is shading to the strongside and you know you have a DB that tends to shade up, why would you not just look at the obvious high low read. In my opinion I try not to think "why did he tunnel vision that route concept" but "why was that route concept even called and why is he tunneling on it". Interesting video regardless. Good quality content.

This is some insane nitpicking. Especially when you take into context when some of these sequences are happening the game.
@gabrielbobowski7767Ай бұрын
In your opinion, why do you think the passing play calling percentage has dropped so much this year? Just Saquan? Cause they've been running simpler offenses since he started. But they've had a lot more success passing the ball in the past. Honestly I feel like the offense is the most complex / the most responsibility Jalen has had. I agree its not as much as a true super star QB, but its more than years like the 2022 when they had more pass attempts and a SB loss. I really hope Jalen can continue to develop, b/c if he does the eagles could be even greater.
@IanMnflАй бұрын
I'd have to watch A LOT more to give an educated answer. But I know if I got Saquon, I'd reshape my offense around him. The pass plays that the Eagles DO RUN, are deep and big enough gains to push the safeties back, lighten the box and make it easier on the elite talent they have along their line!

Great breakdown. I thought Jalen had taken up the protection calling this year, but it looks like that isn't the case.
@IanMnflАй бұрын
Jalen's doing some things with the protections, but I'd assume Landon's responsible for picking something up and calling it out if Jalen misses it. I appreciate the kind words!
@parththakker7155Ай бұрын
@@IanMnfl Landon isn't in charge of protection, it's Jalen and Cam Jurgens together. If you can see, Beckton does a lot of the snap count stuff too as Jurgens is still getting used to all the protections.

First of all I liked the video. Here are my reasonings as to why they play like they play. I believe this year the eagles just run „simple“ pass concepts because they can, with saquon in the backfield. What is there for them to airmail the ball with hard routes if the run is a Safe Concept that works and simple passing concepts that are secure and don’t turn the ball over. Hurts hasn’t turned the ball over nearly as much as he has before the bye week. That secure oldschool offensive concept seems to pan out for them so why risk it? Plus the defense has been on lockdown since the bye week. If they get in to games where he needs to throw the ball more often I believe they will increase their passing and their concepts. Hurts plays with a new center which is replacing a probable HoFer who did a lot of the protection so I think they try to keep it simple. And having a new Oc (again) I think hurts will grow with the system. I just hope for consistency for once for hurts, his Oc turnaround since the college days has been crazy. He has proven to be able to play ball on a high level in 22 so I think it’s smart to keep some part of the offense hidden for the playoffs. Those are just my thoughts I believe as you do you don’t need a mcvay or shannahan though to be fair certain parts are due to the crazy talent on both sides of the ball in Philly.
@jokerworld9707Ай бұрын
Dude these eagles fans aren’t going to be honest until hurts leaves the team. He isn’t that good of a Qb, the eagles put a team around him that he shouldn’t fail with. When u pointed out the fact that the LG is calling the protection I laughed because it’s crazy that the LG has to do it because the Qb is incompetent in that area
