as a rabid LSU cultist i will start by saying this pains me to say but... while there are very substantial differences between year 1 Saban vs year 1 DeBoer in terms of what they had walking into everything, this year was always going have a few bumps in the road for yall. as far as DeBoer vs Saban when looking at your wide-receiver shooting buckets... leave it alone, forget about it and dont worry about it. DeBoer is currently in the midst of one of the hardest fathomable jobs - replacing not just the greatest to ever do it but also in a job which is all about Building. what i mean is, its not just year 1 its also DeBoer in a completely foreign place living in a foreign house built buy the greatest builder ever... he'll find his footing and start to shape Bama in the way he wants it shaped soon enough. when that happens i 100% guarantee you that the next time a player shrugs him off... a murder will occur on national television... why do i think this? 2 reasons. first, look at allll of those glorious seasons yall had under Saban. how many wins did yall get against us (LSU) where you scraped by your chinny-chin-chins? how bout ole miss? and auburn? now what if just one or two of those every now and then went the other way? well thats a bad year (for bama). right? now think back to Sabans first year... not too great eh? point is, those bumps in the road are always going to exist with a coaching transition... but a transition replacing the GOAT? probably slightly rougher would ya say? i say those bumps may just translate to yall LOSING a few more close ones then maybe Saban woulda when the seas were calmer. so is that whats happening? lets see. 2 losses thus far by a total margin of what? 12 points? 1 1/2 scores? those certainly register as "close ones" wouldnt you say? in this light DeBoer is actually pretty damn good... aint he? which leads me to my second claim... my reaction, initially, to the "controversial" screen pass or whatever with around 2 mins left in yalls game the other day, was "what an idiot dumbest play ever..." but then i got to thinkin about it. then i read what he said to the press about it and in all seriousness, that single playcall should make you Bama people ecstatic. you all should see it as a sign you may have just gotten the right man for the job. i wont lay everything out but the truth about the whole thing is that, honestly, it was brilliant and with one potential, but weak, counter argument, it was the EXACTLY CORRECT call... not only that but it was incredibly ballsy but he made it anyways and is now paying for it. paying for making an extremely creative but optimal call in a very rare situation and doing it on the fly... thats absolutely ridiculous... i can honestly say i dont know if Saban wouda thought of it! (well, then again, he probably woulda had the Vols in a 30 point hole at that point so wouldnt have needed to but... ya know, just saying!) anyways, cheer up, your coming to see us in Baton Rouge in a few weeks and you know we always take such good care of yall! ha, seriously though, i think you guys are in a better postion then you think and i HATE IT but, i do think it, so for real, cheer up Bama...

I am not an Alabama Fan, but to me it feel like the Alabama Fanbase has some unrealistic expectations of trying to compare everything to Nick Saban. I get it Nick Saban was great and he set a standard but there's only one Nick Saban in the world. Whoever Alabama's next coach is, whether its Kalen DeBoer or someone else, they are not going to coach or act like Nick Saban. Kalen DeBoer is only 49 years old, you are not going to expect him to act and coach like a 70 year old. This doesn't mean Alabama shouldn't aim for national Championships but this just means you cant expect every coach you hire next to be Nick Saban.

Honestly what I’ve seen from DeBoer in the past is he was always coaching guys with a blue-collar, underdog mentality who aspired to great heights. These Alabama players started at the top of college football, they don’t feel like they have anything to prove, they’re getting paid millions and they have an attitude. DeBoer’s coaching style is a poor fit. Maybe it’ll change once DeBoer gets some of his type of players, or maybe the current players will let these losses humble them and change their mentality. Either way, DeBoer is the “approving dad” type of coach, a great encourager but poor at showing discipline. As long as his mentality continues to stay at odds with his players, Alabama is gonna have a rough time.

I understand if he was playing like Bryce Young, Mac Jones, or Tua but he wasn't, so to say he was the reason we got into the playoffs last year is laughable at best. While Milroe has made progress from last year but when he is forced to take over the game with his arm it is going to limit us unfortunately. You think Milroe would at least have the ability to escape from pressure but his pocket awareness is so bad it is unreal. Like c'mon. I thought dude, was going to play like Jayden Daniels completely unstoppable but Ig that was too much to expect. I can't believe Milroe can't do RPO. Like what a waste of his talents. That would help mask some of his weakness and add a extra threat. Like I thought he could run a similar type of offense to Jayden Daniels. I am going to be fair though even if the run game didn't work against Tennesse we still should have ran the ball because dropping Milroe 40 times is not the answer because he just not a passer QB.
