Jali Saikou Jobarteh, Bronx, 1990, Part 1

In 1990 I had the good fortunate of meeting Jali Saikou Jobarteh. I was researching musicians and performers who lived in the Bronx for a 1990 concert series called "In the Tradition: Black Music from the Bronx" that I organized for the Bronx Council on the Art. I recorded Jali Saikou on March 4, 1990. There's a clicking sound on the original cassette recording. The photos--poorly-scanned slides--are by Martha Cooper.

Thank you so much for this! My good friend Gray introduced me to Kora and the music of Jali Seikou Jobarteh in the mid 90's. Gray learned from Seikou and I learned from Gray and together we played Kora weekly for more than 20 years...
