Great vid as usual brethren. Must say I appreciate the fact that you highlighted the importance of native breeds. The current "craze" for exotics and indiscriminate upgrading may not be the best breeding practice long term. If included in a structured crossbreeding program, producers may well see greater profits.

Apart from using molasses to preserve the silage, which other product is substitute in the absence of molasses?
@farmerkhalil3 жыл бұрын
You have lactobacillus inoculants that can be used. They have some commerical cocktail of these silage additives using bacteria fungus and enzymes. We sometimes use sugarcane in the mix to add that Water double carbohydrates needed to enhance the process.
@socialmediafarms.60083 жыл бұрын
@@farmerkhalil ok. So with the sugarcane, we chop it into smaller pieces and bag then together with the silage for storage OR squeeze the juice out and sprinkle it on the silage in the bag before putting it in storage. Kindly advise. Am from Ghana. Down here its difficult to get the molasses locally. Will look for the other product as you mentioned.

If the native is best for meat then what is the purpose of the bore ?
@farmerkhalil2 жыл бұрын
The Boer was introduced to add more muscle and larger body frame to native animal. Aim was to use nubian and Boer genetics to improve the native animal
@roughcamp21972 жыл бұрын
@@farmerkhalil but my issue is that all these farmers selling these expensive goats and these goats or not ending up on someone's dinner plate, the end game should be meat in my opinion so as to cut back on the importation of mutton from overseas
@farmerkhalil2 жыл бұрын
@@roughcamp2197 so much avenue in this business, but it's mostly driven by demand and producers capacity to fulfill. Meat is definitely endgame but that's numbers game that majority can't manage, but we have some large scale producers coming into the sector
